I'm sure a lot of the Rogue Riders and other newbs from MI will be interested.  I'll post a link on the MI Facebook page.  I plan on going as of now, can confirm once arrangements are finalized.

Cher and I can probably make it.  Just have to check a few things first.

What's the CLOSEST airport to ground zero.  If I ride, she'll fly.  If I drive, I'll have company which is always nice as she never changes the radio station.

Yo Oss, congrats again on Corey's engagement.  Let's talk about this next poker night.
 coolsmiley

Gary:

The CLOSEST airports won't have service to NY, they serve puddle jumpers. That would probably be Machinaw Island Airport.

You need to look at Traverse City Airport. Not far.
Further downstate, Flint's Bishop Airport I'm sure offers NY service, but Flint is still 300 miles from
St. Ignace.  Don't know Cher's riding limit...

BUT - If Cheryl wants to fly into DTW, LuLu can pick her up and cage it uo to Mackinaw  coolsmiley
Looking forward to seeing you, my friend.

May be able to fly into Detroit, Flint, or SBS ( in Freeland, Mi serves Midland, Saginaw, and Bay City ) and catch a puddle jumper to either St. Ignace, the Soo, and for sure Marquette )

What a great idea, the UP.  We have access to the wife's family's lake house on Manistique Lake in Curtis.  This is where I met my wife to be in 1995 while I was up on their with old friends from my youth at there annual softball tournament.   The UP is a back in time ( of sorts ) destination.  And August is usually a time more often prone to better temperatures.

For those that would be thinking of flying someone in for this ride, I would look at the Green Bay airport.
It is only 60 to 80 miles from the UP.

Quite good Jess.  I stated I met my wife while playing softball in the U.P.  We called our softball team the Trolls.  I still have my softball shirt from that time long ago - A troll with a bat under the Big Mac. Bridge.

Hey Elmer.  How many of them beers did you drink last night.   Elmer -  All ah dem.

Hey Gig,

This sounds like a great idea for a ride.  We may be interested in going but just needed to get a few more details.

    -  What will the weather be like for the ride?  We're hoping for pleasantly warm, not too humid and
        NO RAIN.

     -  How much will gas cost?  We prefer it to be less than $2.00 per gallon considering the fact that
the Valkyries aren't exactly gas sippers.

     -  The UP is far enough North that mosquitoes aren't an issue, right?

     -  Bambi is wondering if Grizwold will be able to provide services as well.

     -  What is the expected travel time from Central Illinois to ground zero?  1 - 2 hours?

     -  Will the reflection off of the lake make my butt look big?

     -  Does the UP have dry counties?  If so, can we avoid them?

     -  Will this ride contain the usual group of ne'er-do-wells?

If you are able to accommodate these needs, sign us up!

Thanks,

Mitch, Laura & Bambi

Mitch:

I will try to accommodate your needs. I've consulted the Yooper Weather Map, you can expect the weather to be "Incredibly Shitty".

     -  How much will gas cost?  We prefer it to be less than $2.00 per gallon considering the fact that

Glass slippers are not recommended for motorcycle travel.  coolsmiley

     -  The UP is far enough North that mosquitoes aren't an issue, right?
There are no mosquitoes in the U P. You will need to bring your own.   Evil

     -  Bambi is wondering if Grizwold will be able to provide services as well.
As well as WHO?!?! Grizwold and Bambi will get along fine, but regrettably (for him), his "services" have been removed.  Shocked

     -  What is the expected travel time from Central Illinois to ground zero?  1 - 2 hours?
Maybe less, the way you ride...  Roll Eyes

     -  Will the reflection off of the lake make my butt look big?
Mitch, you caint blame the size if your butt on the world's largest reservoir of fresh water.  uglystupid2

     -  Does the UP have dry counties?  If so, can we avoid them?
The term "Dry County" does not exist in Yooper lexicon. Yes, we will definitely avoid all dry counties.

     -  Will this ride contain the usual group of ne'er-do-wells?
Its shaping up that way, isn't it? Lots of ne'er do wells. I see that Trout Dude is expected...  Grin

Gig,
The crappy weather forecast is helpful but my concern is the reflection question that Mitcho asked.   Is someone gonna have to make a judgement call on this?    This could be a deal breaker.   There are some things I simply don't need to know....   Wink

Hiya Gig,
Count me in. Probably do the camping thing if available.

Evan - Yep the grates are a whole lot of fun across the Big Mac especially when the wind gets up over 20MPH. And trust me, they are always working on parts of the paved lanes so you will probably get to experience it.  Evil

I'm gonna try and make this one even if I have to drive a cage.  No promises but, I really need to get out and this is a great reason to go.    cooldude
There are other obstacles that will have to be overcome but, I'm giving it my best shot.  Inzane is most likely not an option.    We'll know soon enough.  May have go under the knife again.
