IN 37 years I have only ever received 3 unemployment checks.  That was right after I retired for the Corp in 1993.  Today after working a large heavy construction project for over two years in Central Washington I have been laid off.

Now please understand, in this business that is not always a bad thing.  I have saved my overtime money and I am not in dire need of getting back to work to pay the bills.

But, I say with a sigh of relief that I have a chance to go home and be with my family at Christmas time.  It will be the first time in 10 years where I can spend the whole season enjoying my Grandchildren and being the spoiler.  So I am not upset.

So now I will travel back to Amarillo Texas.  Because the weather might get dicey in the Blue Mountains of Oregon I will be heading west to Portland, then south to Bakersfield where I will visits friends and ride my Goldwing for a couple days.  I call that my decompressing time.  I will then start heading east on Friday 11/27/2009.

Sorry I'm not stopping to visit Hotrod.  I know there are some riders in the San Jaunqin Valley (pardon the spelling) so you can leave a message here and I will try to respond.  If BigMac is reading this sure would like to touch base after the last couple years.

I started in the VRCC from Bakersfield.  Use to ride with an old VRCC rider Marty Rood.  I will see him on my way east.  I also already have a couple job interviews scheduled and I hope to be back to work the beginning of next year.

OBTW, My youngrest daughter has a baby girl on Wednesday.  Seven pounds and ten ounces.  Her name is Zoie Morse.

So I count my blessing and hope I run into some VRCC riders on this trip.  If not I will wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving now.

I'm trying to come east Joe.  Give me some time.

Good luck to you Charlie. I know you will have fun with the grandkids. Enjoy your free time and ride safe. We saw Marty last year in Kingman for lunch. He looks good and tell him we said hello.
