Anxious Before Surgery

Pacing back and forth, a man was getting really anxious about his imminent operation.
His wife asked him: “What’s the matter? Why are you getting so worked up?”
He replied: “I heard one of the nurses say ‘It’s a very simple operation, don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll be all right.'”
“She was just trying to comfort you,” said his wife. “What’s so frightening about that?”
“She was talking to the surgeon!”

Your story reminded me of a true story that i had many years ago. When I was about 20 I was assaulted on the NJ boardwalk six guys surrounded my family and one of them hit me from behind with a blackjack and shattered my nose. A few weeks later I had surgery to put my nose back in the middle of my face. Needless to say the drugs they used to knock me were strong ! After surgery I was brought back to my room I clearly remember a woman pacing back and forth in my room I still hadn't opened my eyes but I was aware both my wife and mother were in the room the woman just keep pacing and driving me crazy until I just exploded and the very first thing I said to this poor woman was "if you are going to keep pacing why don't you do something constructive like vacuum". I think I pissed her off she stormed out of the room, i fell right back asleep the next day i got an ear full from my mother as to how rude i was to the lady in my room who was waiting for her husband to come out of surgery. I will never live this down it became clear that day that I'm obnoxious to the core!

When under the influence of strong sedatives and/or painkillers, part of our brain is on hold and people will say anything that comes to their clouded and uninhibited minds.
I have fortunately never attended a childbirth (and never would), but the stories of what these gals say when squeezing out a bowling ball are legion and legendary.
I don't blame them at all. Squeezing out a tiny kidney stone is one of the worst things I ever went through myself (and it took
all
night). They said I was given a strong pain killer in my IV, but I think they were lying.
I know I wasn't the nicest guy in the ER that night. (I just wanted to kill something.... anything.)
