I am gathering up some info about my 14 years old bike (for me) , a 2001 , standard.
Seemed like a nice thing to do when it is 3 feet snow outside...

Whats the brand name of that radiator grill? Anyone?

The pic is from 2005, and shiny, I think. The bike is still shiny, but has  86 k more miles now so perhaps not as shiny as it was  , but now, has a thousands more memories

I have one.  I think it was the Bar Grill and I think Chet Walters (Rattlebars) sold it.  He's been retired for some time.

Don’t go too fast. Your brakes might be compromised a little.

I am pretty sure that Daryl from XF6 custom (also VTX extreme) makes them also.

It was the very first thing I bought for the bike, I was worried about the radiator open, vulnerable position.

I did later have an issue about the radiator, but not about the front.
Behind the black retangles (?) on the side cover there are screws that I did not know about.
Some years later once of them got lose ( without  me seing it) , the cover & srews viberated a bit and scratched on the radiator until I got a leak..( at a bad moment,,long story.)

The Rattlebars Bar-Grille (no longer available, for years) was chrome steel, with a set number of bars.  I think yours is Rattlebars chrome (and you have the OE mesh grill underneath)

The Daryl-made xf6 grille (still available, as far as I know) is stainless steel bar stock, and I believe he (at least used to) offered them in a couple different number of bar choices.  

I have one of each on my bikes.

Is that a Honda horn cover?  You don't see many of those.

PS: For anyone thinking of getting one from Daryl; it is important to note, if you stick the OE screen underneath (and this may be a wise choice to protect from a small high speed stone/object radiator damage), you must use 1/4 inch longer mount screws, than if you don't mount the OE screen.  I didn't use mine because it was rusted up and it looked like crap.  But I almost holed/damaged my radiator with the bit-longer mount screws; tolerance is important.  I've been running them both with no mesh screen behind for many years, and never had any radiator hits; and, it's easy to use a whisk broom to periodically brush bugs and dirt out of my radiator fins this way (without removing the grill).

Don’t go too fast. Your brakes might be compromised a little. 

With two calipters, one, maybe two, fingers on the brake handle are enough to stop,,,,with one calipter I still had same brake power as HD bikes at the time ...lol ..and 4 finger were still more than enough to stop.

( another long stoy, but a calipter bracket broke  ( security lock on the brake disk) on a ride and I had to "blind" one calipter and go with  one calipter on the front until I got my hand on a new bracket.

It’s not a cover, but the horn. My ‘01 Standard came stock with it also.

The max speed limits here are about 50 miles/ hour, but I'd say average speed is about 40 m/h.
Riding with one calipter on front was no problem at all

I have one on Blondiie's old Tourer which came off of Blondie's old Standard.

There are many pieces of chrome on that bike from former members and vendors who are no longer in business or no longer with us. Sad, but times change.
