I called Progressive and they informed me the only shocks that fit my Interstate are the 412 or the 416. He couldn't tell me anything about any other model numbers and said those were the only 2 that would work.

I read on here that the 444-4221C Chrome 13" are being used on our (Interstate) bikes. Has anything changed? Will that shock still work without modification? Is that the shock to go with?

I need help.

Thanks

444-4221C.  Those are the ones I'm using on my IS.  No complaints whatsoever, even two-up on Austone tires.  cooldude

As I understand it, these are the Heavy Duty shocks. I weigh about 210, am I too light (haha) for these? Just asking......

The 4221s are fairly firm, but adjustable so you can find your sweet spot.  I like them about at about the halfway mark for riding two up on the taller tire, but I rarely bother with adjusting them when riding solo (90% of the time).  I'm about your weight.

With 2up do you notice any additional scraping in normal curves/turning?  I did with the 13" Progressives and the Avid Envigor 205/60-16, which is about 1" less diameter than the Dunlop MTs.  Right now I'm riding on the Progressive 14" Air Shocks to add back that 1".  With 2up I can lean over far and don't scrape anymore.

I did some scraping in corners when two-up with the peg lowering kit.  Didn't need the peg lowers so I took 'em off. We used to bottom regularly on 416 air shocks that came on my Tourer, but they were needing a rebuild and I didn't want to mess with that. I have 444s on both bikes.
