I have given the your #1 sign to a couple of people. (Not many). My most memorable incident was many yrs ago when a lady pulled out in front of me at NIGHT I know she could she that big ol headlight. Got the bike sideways to keep from a T-bone. After I got her straight again I pull along side her and give her the look. She ignores me so my size 14 boot put a nice big dent in her driver door and I suspect several hundred $$$ in front end work as when I kicked said door she swerved and hit the curb. Probably shouldnt have done it I know but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do Evil

that was me 2 weeks ago on my scooter in Madison WI when going around a roundabout me in left lane, _itch in GMC black Acadia SUV in right lane about 10 feet BEHIND ME coming out of the roundabout she had to get in MY LANE and gunned it so I gunned my scooter was ahead of her the whole time her having to fall behind me which she was anyways.  She beeped the horn at me so I took hand off throttle, slowed down and turned around flipping her off for a few seconds doing about 20 mph before having to slow down more since traffic ahead was stopped.

I felt when stopped in traffic ahead  to get off  scoot and go to her window and telling her to shove her horn where the sun does not shine, but I think she got the hint.  I was in a pissy mood at the time, road rage and all.

If she was side by side me or slightly ahead of me,  I would have gladly let her in, but 10 feet behind me is NOT happening to gain what?  NOTHING AT ALL for traffic ahead was stopped!!

Mark, I think karma is an appropriate title. I've flipped a car off one time on the bike. I can't give an exact figure while in a car. Maybe 6 ? My Dad was terrible. I've probably seen him flip off 50 or better.
Anyway, the time on the bike, I quickly realized it wasn't a good idea. Karma indeed. I hope the rider is ok. I've "touched" cars at speed before. I care not to anymore. Once when I was 16 with a couple buddies (all 3 of us riding RD350's) I thought it would be a good idea to pass a line of traffic coming back from the Kenai Peninsula thru the mountains. It wasn't a good idea.  I put a 5' boot mark on a white Ford Galaxy with a family of 5. What I will never forget, is how big their eyes got.  Shocked I sure don't want to kick one. Road rage and scooters don't mix.
My other touch may not have even been a touch. Launched from the passenger side over a '66 Nova station wagon. I'm not sure if I touched anything other than the handlebars.

Yup. Karma is tough. 10 years ago went to pass a tractor on the highway when he suddenly turns left and clips the back end of the bike. Not good wiping out at 50 mph.

Never even had the chance to flip him off.

Karma is tough.

But the daughter walks away with nary a scratch. So Karma does have a soft spot.

In such circumstances, there are always other considerations.  Size Matters.   Motorcyclists have a right to their space on the road but some cage drivers don't know, care or simply don't recognize a bike is there.   The stand your ground defense while on a motorcycle does get us into bad situations at times.   Flipping off another operator IMHO is a juvenile act which does nothing but piss the recipient off.  Accomplishing nothing.

Hard to say what is the appropriate action in any or each situation but, this I know.  A motorcycle and it's rider does not stand a chance in a competition to occupy the same space as a cage.  Regardless of who was right or wrong.   Ride defensively, it could save your life.

yah, flipping the finger is a juvenile act, but the a-holes deserve it sometimes and maybe they will think twice about cutting us off if we ACT and do something about it whether flipping them the finger or bitching them out.   I bet that female drive a few weeks ago in the SUV got the hint when turned around while driving left hand and flipped the finger pretty long and agressively even if a 280lb. fat dude on a 250cc scooter.  She backed off and stayed off for traffic was stopped soon ahead for awhile and even though I would probably would not do it unless she bumped me or was near stopped behind me mere inches away, I could have easily gone over to her SUV and if nothing else chewed her -ss off!  Angry
