Just wanted to make a correction. Finally got the tires changed over on the bike at Souhegan Motorsports. They have gone up on the rates. $42.50 a tire for mount and balance. I asked why they went up and he said, " because we were only charging 25 bucks." What do I say to that?

Hey Paul! Glad to know you'll be back on two wheels soon. Hope Kathy's recuperation is going well. I'm sure you're being supportive. $42.50 is still a good price. Most shops in my area won't mount and balance tires unless you bought them from the shop. And if you do, the mounting and balancing is rolled into the tire purchase price. The shops that do mount and balance tires that you bring in, are charging $55 to $65 per wheel. You'll enjoy this, the last shop that mounted and balance a tire for me was a custom HD shop in Framingham, American Motorcycle Service. I walked in rolling the rear wheel into a sea of HDs and custom V-Twins. I asked him if he'd mount and balance a tire for me. I'm sure the rear wheel looked very different that what he was accustomed to. He asked what kind of bike it was. I said Honda Valkyrie. He paused moment and said Ok. Then he smiled and said you can get you're inspection sticker here, too. Probably the first and last Valkyrie wheel he's seen. This was years ago and he charged $50. I probably won't need new tires until next riding season. I've got a little over 6K on the bike. Probably will need tires in the 12k mile range. It doesn't look too hard to pull the wheels off the bike. Might even be easier than the Valkyrie. We'll see when the time comes. Sherry is going to a wedding shower on Sunday. So I've got a pass for the day. If the weather looks good, maybe we can meet for lunch some place, if you're able. I think you have my cell phone number. If not I can text it to you.

It would have to be afternoon on Sunday. I am taking Kathy to her favorite Oceanside retreat to help with recovery. I'll give you a ring when we get back.

Not sure where her retreat is but it's nice you are taking her there. When you have a good woman, treat her like she is... Gold! And if she can put up with all our faults... she is platinum

An Oceanside retreat sounds wonderful! It looks like my plans have changed for Sunday. Enjoy your time with Kathy. We'll catch up another time.

Kathy's favorite place is right on the water in Camden, Maine. And I mean the ocean is ten feet below the porch I'm sitting on. Falling asleep to the waves is magical. Souhegan used to charge $25 last year. They just went up. Tony maybe we can convince GaryC to come out and play some weekend as well.

Gary and Deb are heading to Americade for next week. Hope they have a good week. A good place to meet up with them is the Friday Classic Car night at Kimball's in Lancaster. Hope to make at least one time this summer.

Hopefully I can make a few as well. They have brought me back to North Andover/Lawrence for a while. Working with a crew not paving so should be regular 8 hour days for a while.

I stopped by my friend Bill's shop today in Whitinsville, MA (Northbridge). He charges $30 for non-spoked wheels and $35 for spoked (tubes). That's carry in price. R+R is extra labor. If anyone is local, his shop is Trinity Auto Brokers, and he's a good guy. Loves motorcycles, and has done several Iron Butt rides.

Thanks for the post. Whitinsville is reasonably close to me and $30 is an amazing price. This includes a balance, too, right?

Those are the prices for mounting and balancing a tire that's not on the bike. Small shop owned by a good guy. He's not trying to compete with others, so his prices cover his time.
