Yes , two years ago in May. Doctor damaged a nerve in my leg that causes loss of muscle control.
Hip wise , I needed the surgery. It was an anterior replacement. The incision was horizontal in the hip joint in the front. I did not do enough "do diligence". According to two other doctors , this causes what I may have to live with the rest of my life. When I first started to ride , I had to look to see if my foot was on the ground.  I worked on muscle memory . I still have problems standing on my right leg without support.

Had my rt. one done the end of Nov., 2016.  Was done w/the anterior approach which was great...didn't involve cutting any muscles or tendons, left me w/a 4" scar on the front of my hip area. I was back on the bike in less than two months. Took a little while for the stretched muscles to heal up so the area was tender for a time but the bone on bone joint was now gone....can you say RELIEF!?  When asked at a 2 month followup, the dr. suggested I don't exceed 300lbs. when doing leg presses at the gym. I can live with that. There are days when I think my left side is going to follow suit. I have some arthritis in different areas of the old body(81) and that's most likely what's going on in that hip. The dr. xrayed it and comfirmed the suspicion but nowhere near a candidate for replacement.

Funny you should ask.
I am going in this afternoon to see my arthritis doctor. I am afraid that he is going to say that I need a one also.

I added this to the white board in my room, just so everyone knew I was serious about getting out of there today.  Smiley

Jim, don’t be afraid, no more pain is a good thing!
Also, insist on the anterior method. My room mate today arrived before me, had the posterior cut. I’m motoring around the house with a walker, he is still bedridden in the hospital.

Got me some new tennis balls today, started with rehab lady this afternoon.
Yes Bill, the Dr. only took 2 hours to do it, last time it was 3. And way less pain overall.
