Have you plotted out the same routes in Google Maps, Mapquest etc and see which numbers are closer to reality from that source?

(Including any side trips, etc...)

Relive sometimes loses the track and puts in a straight line.

As to those who quickly throw out a comment without ever having used using Relive or comparing data.

I wish I was as clever as you.  2funny

i know that Google Maps showed 1,425 mils from Taos to home.

Relive was 1,268 AND I know I went further than that.

Odometer shows 1,545.

I kept a record of miles at the beginning of each day and amount of gas bought for how many $ at each fill up during the whole trip.

If Relive was to be believed my mpg would have been mid 20's average. It was 32 mpg average.

Start mileage  71,013
End mileage    75,411
Total                4,398

Gas $329.47
Gallons 135.2
Avg m.p.g. 32.52
Avg gallon $2.44

Paul,

I'm of the old-school persuasion myself, so naturally I choose to go with your miles recorded... Besides, I know you, so I trust your calculations far more than ancillary instruments and technical gizmos! This should, of course, be taken with a grain of salt... I'm one who still carries a paper atlas in his saddlebag and can't even spell GPS!!!

It was a nice surprise when our paths crossed a couple of times while out yonder... That last time as you passed me - us - while tooling down the freeway; us at a rather high rate of speed... you... at something a bit more, obviously!!! Glad you made the journey, though... hope to see ya out and about again... soon!

I have a zip loc bag of state maps and a route written on laminated sheets. Never owned a GPs but I do like being able to look at routes on my phone and the ability to find motels at the end of a long days ride.

My bike wanted to run  at 85+. I had no choice.  Cheesy

From Relive

Thanks for your message. This is a known issue with this phone manufacturer; your device is restricting background processes and closing the Relive app. This may report a different distance than you actually traveled, an incomplete video or a straight line in your video. Unfortunately, it will not be possible for us to “fill in” the missing data or modify the existing data. Please follow these steps to prevent issues in the future.

For next time:
Be sure Relive is allowed to use your location. Settings > Apps > Relive > Permissions > Toggle Location ON. Be sure that you've allowed Relive to use GPS in the background.
Disable any battery saver settings. Including Power Saving Mode, Battery Management or any third party apps. On this page you can find the instruction to set the battery saver settings for your device: https://support.relive.cc/article/51-how-to-prevent-bad-gps-data-on-android
Ensure that the GPS signal is found before you close the screen. Try to avoid putting away your phone in areas where there may be a weaker GPS signal. Near high buildings, deep forests, or near huge amounts of water like lakes or the ocean.

I was already doing all they suggested .

I will just have to acknowledge that there is a discrepancy.

I'm writing up my ride and a couple of times I've checked where I went on Google maps and their miles are pretty much dead on with my bike give or take 10 or 15. Over 430 miles that's not too big a difference considering I had to make a few backtracks in some places.
