I dropped off the registration and insurance card to Dave's wife, daughter, and granddaughter at Kamloops Hospital on Sunday. They updated me on his condition. I didn't want to post anything previously out of respect for his family.

On Sunday, his condition was not good. He was not breathing well and his kidneys were not working. They had him on a ventilator and dialysis. He has 3 broken vertebrae, 3 broken ribs, internal damage, and facial and neck damage. His heart was not at the normal rhythm. He was not able to see out of his left eye. The thing of most concern was his kidney malfunction.

Yesterday, his heart recovered back to normal rhythm and an ultrasound showed it was good.

Today, he is improved. He has now been cleared for transport and they hope to have him back in Spokane by Friday.

A GoFundMe account has been started under "David Malatt."

I will post more as I receive more information.

Thanks Murray, I didn't want to post much. Some people like keeping things private, but then, we're all concerned with his condition.

Dave is back in Spokane.

I will keep posting as long as his daughter continues to send me updates.

I also heard from Dave M in Spokane yesterday, waiting to hear from Chromy.

Dave Malatt is doing a little better. Kidney is still an issue. Unknown which hospital he was transferred to.

Awaiting more info from the family.

Dave is still in ICU at Sacred Heart Hospital, but stable enough they could finally do an MRI. Although he did break his back, the good news is no serious damage to the spinal cord so no surgery.  They are trying to get him sitting up with a back brace. Bad news of MRI is he does have a traumatic brain injury, so it will be a long recovery.  He is starting to breath for longer period on his own, but still needs some assist from the ventilator after longer periods off of it.  Slowly starting to respond  with nodding and hand movements, such as thumbs up.  Hoping to get his trach adjusted to hopefully start talking. He is still going through dialysis as kidneys are still not fully functional.  But small baby steps are encouraging.

His daughter asked share this info with anyone who would like to know and to ask that we keep the prayers going for a full recovery. Also, don't forget the GoFundMe account for Dave and his expenses. His family understand things are tight for most people. All donations (no mater how small) and prayers are greatly appreciated.

Thank you so very much for the update. Such a tragic event. Please let his family know that he is in our prayers.
