I had posted that I planed on getting one, it has happened. A little background on this one. I found it just by luck. I was looking for a part for my GL1500 Goldwing at a bike shop and told the shop owner I was looking for a Valkrie and he told me about this one that had been in a wreck. I rode over to the wrecking yard and there it was my future bike. I was able to get in touch with the owners brother and made a offer and it was accepted. ( the owner had a stroke while riding and ran off the road. He later passed because of the stroke not the wreck according to his brother). Wensday I made a 300 mi. trip and payed and got a clear title and all the paperwork on the bike. Thursday after a PGR Mission a friend and I with his truck and trailer went and got it. At first I was unsure about trying to start it without checking if gas had filled the left cylinders the peacock was on. I turned the key on had lights so I bumped the starter a few times till the engine rolled over a couple of times then gave it some choke hit the starter and she fired up and ran great. Needless to say I was excited, ran so good we rode it on the trailer. I do have some work to do on it before I can get it on the road but nothing I can't fix. Hope this wasn't to long and boring. Oops, spelled it wrong.

Don't worry, I think we all had the same problem in the past. FYI - you can go back to your original start of this post and choose Modify, and change the spelling.

pictures - pictures - pictures

FYI - this is the Tech section, for questions on that. The General section would be better for your introduction, with pictures - pictures.

You mentioned it was in an accident. What kind of work is it going to need, pictures - pictures?

Sounds like it hadn't sat very long to cause fuel/carb issues, and ran fairly easily.

Sorry about no pictures yet, I am useing my wife's iPad because my computer is on the fritz. Ok I was not sure where to put it. If it needs to be moved please do so, I would not know how. I just can barely get by on one of these things. The main problems from the accident are the right lower fork is bent and the tachometer and speedometer are totally trashed.

Well shoot, I parted out a Valkyrie last year and just sold the front forks.   They were needed by the gent that bought them so, they went to a good home.   But, I'm thinking I still have a speedo, will check but, that's going to take a while.   All that is packed up and about 600 miles south of me.   If I still have it, you can have it for the price of shipping.   It wasn't perfect (as I remember) but did work.

If you haven't found one by mid-August, give me a shout.   Sorry but I won't be there till that time frame.

The bike is a black 2000 Tourer but when I have it painted I am not sure if I will keep it like that. What got me started thinking about a Valkyrie was seeing a picture of a 97 green& cream one. I might go like that but I am not sure yet, got to get it roadworthy first and also have sell me GL 1500 Goldwing to pay for the things to fix this one. Thanks Rams that would be great as for the forks I thank they can be straightened.

Very doubtful you will straighten the forks but they can be had. Check out ebay. Pinwall cycles.

Bighearted, I have been looking already but I have a mechanist friend that has straightened forks before. Looks like you don't live to far from me. Zip City is just North of Florence. If that dose not work out I will get some good used ones. ridingron franksforks has been around a long time I will check them out. I had not even thought of them. Thanks Dannie

This used to be a black I/S at one time in it's life.

Ramie, I like that very much, I am not much on just black I like different colors. I have a original green color GL 1000, the 79 is gold, 79CBX is red, 95GL1500 is purple, , and the 08 GL1800 is orange so you can see from that I do like colors.

If you are on Facebook , there is a Valkyrie group for Southern Valkyrie riders, they have parts page and I just saw Wood Butcher had a set of forks on there for sale...not sure if he is on this forum or not.

Greetings Dannie,
Welcome to VRCC and the Valkyrie Brotherhood cooldude Sounds like a great find for your new Valk. I do look forward to seeing your custom paint job smitten and good luck on the fixing her up! A handful of us down south of you in the pan-handle FL make some trips into AL on occasions. Who knows maybe we'll get you down to a Cheaha State Park Gathering. Five of us just got back from a trip there, staying at the park hotel. They have improved the hotel, restaurant and campgrounds. Spending 2 million with more in the plans. So we are planning on maybe a fall ride up there. ???
Bighead who is up your way is a good contact for you. ( BH, keep that trip in mind too )  coolsmiley

I just want to thank everyone that has encouraged me about this bike. With some parts from a gentleman on this forum that was parting out a bike I got everything I needed to get it on the road. I got a short ride on it and am sure I am going to love it. I am going to have to learn how to post pictures on here. I had to upgrade from Windows 7 to 10 and everything changed. I am not very tech savvy but I will get some help and figure it out.  Thanks Dannie
