The Landmass Between Mobile And New Orleans

« on: November 29, 2009, 06:26:55 PM »

The phenomenon I like to call "The Valkyrie Effect."  I rode to Mobile, AL today and, as I turned off Snow Road onto Cottage Hill, I saw this guy's mouth fall open.  He was talking on his cell phone and the closer I got, the more his mouth hung open.  Of course, he couldn't take his eyes off Sandman.  As we passed, I thought he was going to wring his own neck.  I just had to smile and laugh.   Grin  Ya just gotta luv it!!

Both Beekeeper's I/S and my trike get those kinds of looks, I love it, almost as much as I love riding it.

My favorite is the "Whiplash Look." That's the one where they see you, look away for a moment before they realize what they just saw and then snap their head back to make sure. cooldude

I love that whiplash effect... one of my favorites is pulling past a car load of young guys on the superslab...they're all sleepin' ('cept for the driver)..as you pass them at  5 mph over their speed, the driver has the whiplash, then slaps the guy sleeping next to him and points back at my bike...The guy who just woke up leans forward to look down at my engine.... I can almost read his lips..."Hey, what the hell is that?"..

I love it every time!!  Too bad we can't bottle that reaction and send it to the decision makers at Honda for review.

In the one year that I've had my Valkyrie Trike, I can't tell you the amount of times people tried to flag me down just to take a closer look at it! lol. The engine completely blows them away!  Grin

Know what ya'll mean.

Couple of weeks after getting my Valk I needed a driving light and, for some reason, it has Harley lights, says right there on the lens.  So the wife and I pull up right in front of the HD place, in front of all the HDs there for sale.  There was a couple of guys looking at a Harley, one turned out to be the parts guy, young fella, he says "Man, how big a motor is that??"  When I told him it's just a 1500 he goes "that thing is HUGE".

The other guy, which was the owner of the HD they were getting parts for, just rolled his eyes and couldn't get away fast enough.  Like he knew he couldn't compete!

Doesn't it give you a warm fuzzy, especially when you hear a HD coming down the street, to know that you ride the best??

We all know a few die-hard HD Riders......

I just tell them....

"I'd rather be one IN a million, than one OF a million"

That pretty much shuts them up.   cooldude
