Many moons ago, after watching and reading about long range silhouette shooting, I had an opportunity to lay down and try the creedmore shooting position with my long bbl .44 mags. I was lobbing shots out to around 200-250 yards. No spotter, but was adjusting based on dirt being kicked up.
After a dozen shots or so, I started to get a sensation in my right leg. A burning sensation, as I had started my jeans on fire from the forcing cone. It was at this point that I remembered seeing the long range creedmore
revolver shooters using a piece of leather on their leg.
Ahhh, so that's what that's for.

On the other hand, I don't care how much esprit de corps, military necessity, or accuracy is required, I am
not being this spotter.
