keep your eyes on a swivel for  you never know when someone will not be paying attention for whatever reason and come into your lane.    2 IL cyclists killed when truck not stopping for someone turning in front collided with truck ahead and came over into oncoming lane where cycles were coming at them.   Slim chance, but still a chance, if the cyclists were paying more attention,  there might have been room to avoid the oncoming truck coming at them if they visualized 2nd truck rear ending 1st truck turning and gone over to the shoulder of the road to the right more to avoid the truck coming at them, maybe???  That hwy. 69 has a good shoulder and is very straight and easy to see oncoming traffic.  Same road a few years ago on my cycle I saw a car coming at me and saw him well in advance going over 4-5 feet into my lane going 60 mph me also 60 mph so I luckily got over the far right near on the white painted line to avoid a head on collision since if I was in the middle of my own lane, I would have been hit very, very badly 60 mph head on collision does not favor cycles.

If it can happen 10 miles from my house on main hwy. 69 very straight road with plenty of time to react and good vision all around,  it can happen anywhere in the US.

Do not know the 69 year old who lives in my town who caused the crash not stopping, but heard his name I think?   Police closing the only one main road mostly in Green County which is by far the number one used road in a 20 mile radius of me for 10 hours is a long time to detour traffic.  Very similar accident on same main hwy. 69 happened about 8 years ago right in my own backyard killing a lady where I use to work for head on collision truck and ford fusion.  Lady of the ford fusion died instantly and I saw and heard the head on collision about 100 yards away from main hwy. 69 where one crossed the center of the road, was not pretty at all.  The ford fusion front end was gone while the truck flipped over dukes of hazzard style doing 60 mph and landed 100 feet or more onto the roof of the truck.  Scared the crap outta me when I heard metal crashing together could easily hear it from 600 yards away am sure.

had another major collision coming home same hwy. 69 but on other side of town backing up traffic near 1 mile long heading south from work around 5:30 p.m.  large SUV flipped over and honda crv front end all smashed in, very bad.  When arrived in backed up traffic, ambulances were just heading to Madison WI hospitals for both parties am sure.   I just missed that by about 30 minutes tops if I would have left on time 30 minutes earlier who knows might have been in the middle of it?

Is getting spooky dangerous around me last 2 days.... Shocked

This morning an idiot must have been late for work me doing 65 mph in a 55 him zipping right on by me as well but as I know,  he did not gain anything since traffic ahead was going slower than me so caught up to him in no time flat.  Never even saw him in my rearview mirror seems like he came from out of nowhere.  I better pay more attention waking up in the morning I guess while on 2 wheels he never even  got fully in the left other lane while passing me just glad I was not on the left side of my lane or veered on over not even knowing he was passing me until he flew on by me.

I best stop writing on this article for going to work this morning in Madison thru one of their illustrious busy roundabouts,  a dingbat lady in a fancy Range Rover did not even look to my right  (her left) as I was already zipping thru the roundabout heading her way and she slammed on the brakes just in the nick of time about 4 feet into the roundabout intersection (my lane) barely stopping about 2 feet near me with me doing about 15-20 mph tops coming right at her.  No way was I stopping in time just glad she squealed tires locking them up or I would have flipped over her hood of her Range Rover.

I may start rigging up one of my aluminum smaller baseball bats (rapping on their fenders or hoods) and bring some marbles and pennies with me in my coat pocket for those who come way too close to me from the side or from behind me.   BACK AWAY and get your head out of your _ss and open your eyeballs...   Just in past month alone going thru several in a row roundabouts in Madison I have seen 2 collisions happen from someone not looking left before pulling out and whammooo, fender benders... tickedoff  Or you get those idiots who come to a complete stop in a roundabout when clearly NO ONE is coming from their left and wonder why they get rear ended.
