Well my father's funeral was yesterday. The last two days were tough. Yesterday was the toughest. Over 160 people payed their respect during the visitation and the service. Per my father's wishes his casket was only opened for family then closed for visitation. The entire funeral took place in our church.
The service started with the Patriot Guard Riders putting flags up outside. When the service was over me,my brothers and three other pall bearers loaded his casket into the couch while the PGR guys saluted. I drove my 70 Bonneville behind the couch. As soon as I dripped it into drive it died. Took a few long seconds to get it restarted. I thought "not today" but it fired back up. The PGR with our own Dennis (old2soon) and his brother Ross (Dapres) lead the procession to the cemetery. We removing him from the couch and sat him over his final resting place with the flag on his casket. After the 21 gun salute performed by the local Korean chapter and Taps being played, two Army soldiers folded the flag and handed it to my brother. Right after the flag was handed to my brother Dennis walked up to him, saluted and said something I couldn't hear.
My father touched a lot of lives during his 91 years on this earth. He had many friends from the City of New Haven,His Korean Chapter,His working life and of course the VRCC.
I want to thank again all who gave prayers and then condolences in this difficult time. Special Thanks goes out to (98T) Lothar and his wife Dawn for making the trip down from Wisconsin and to Dennis (old2soon) From Missouri his brother Ross (Dapres) from Illinois and Local members Doug (six2go) and Tom Wulpi for representing the VRCC.

What I said to your older brother Wayne was along the lines of this. On behalf of the Indiana and Illinois and Missouri Patriot Guard Riders and the Valkyrie Rider Cruise Club I would like to tell you What an HONOR it's been standing for your Father Wayne today. And much like yesterday I'm choked up and my eyes are a bit wet. R I P Solo1. RIDE SAFE.

Mark, I'm glad we were able to come for the visitation. It was an honor to know your dad - From your description, sounds like your dad got an fitting tribute as he deserved.
Think about the good memories of him to help see you through these tough days. I find myself thinking back to different interactions with him over the years .

Peace, Brother! Hugs from me and Cheryl to you, Twila, and Chris. Hope to meet Chris's wife some day, and maybe Wayne, you know, the guy we searched all over for a t-shirt in Rapid City. I really liked your Dad being a part of this club for so many reasons and it was an honor meeting him in his home with his light blue Miata parked in a very clean garage.
