in a couple ways. As I was riding home the other day, a car up ahead kept drifting into the right lane of a 4 lane thoroughfare. He wasn't just coming across the lane markers. He was getting a couple feet into the other lane and then slowly going back. The car ahead of me had to take a couple of evasive maneuvers before he was able to get ahead of this guy. After hanging back for a while I figured my best bet was to get by this guy. I think that was my first mistake. As we came up to a light he came 2 ' into my lane again. As I was already riding the far right section of this lane I only had the small shoulder left. I vigorously pointed down at the road where he was at and gave him a palm up WTF ! signal. He looked confused as he didn't know why I was signaling. He looked to be maybe 80 plus and not in great health. I made it home in one piece, but I think I screwed up by not noting his license plate and calling DMV or the cops.
I know it was hard for my FIL to give up driving, as I'm sure it will be for most of us. As we get old we become in denial of many things. As an example : in my mind, I think I am still capable of having sex 4 times a night.  Smiley The reality might be slightly different.
I hope I don't see a news article about an old man in a Mercury Grand Prix injuring somebody.  Embarrassed

While I don't think you messed up, when I am on a motorcycle I am the most vulnerable vehicle in any given situation and I realise that.  (I am sure you do too, your an experienced rider.) That being said I would rather keep that sketchy driver ahead of me where I can control the distance between us better than have him behind me where he can hit me easier because I can't watch him as closely.

Additionally if he (or she) is ahead of me and becomes too erratic I can simply get off that stretch of road without worrying about them following me and still having to deal with him.

Some people do need to be told it's time to give up there right to drive... I have had a few cases recently of family asking me to slow the repair down on cars as they are trying to to get there family member off the road as the driver feels they are fine to drive..... yet they have crashed their car through blatant and basic driver error, one even broke the brick wall of my workshop when they drove into it while trying to turn around
One lady drove over a footpath through a fence & into a power pole when she was trying to find the wiper switch....thankfully no one on the path

always need to be on the lookout, so many people out there to get you ...

Side damage is from when she pulled out infront of a car, then after looking at her car she did this turning around

concrete block wall behind the tin, bench was against the wall too

I operate under the premises “ if the problem stays ahead of me it can’t catch me”. Your incident was exactly why I got a Sena last year. If could have called 911 from the bike I would have.

I also can make calls using Bluetooth in my helmet, or hands-free in my truck.  I will always call 911 on erratic driving.  Maybe the driver is drunk, having a stroke, or texting; it doesn't matter.  I don't want them killing or severely injuring someone else.

another good reason to have cameras mounted on your bike in front and possibly in back as well.

My mother in law came home to find her garage door caved in and frame damage around garage door and gas meter inside her garage bent in but not leaking gas very lucky house did not blow up.  found out  elderly neighbor up the street in his 90's thought it was his house and instead of touching brake he floored the gas pedal going thru her garage door into her garage.

can you imagine coming home to something like this almost like a robbery...   coolsmiley

My grandpa last few years he was alive was a diabetic should of had his drivers license pulled he would drive 45 mph top speed, if that,  all over the center of the road and sometimes in nearby town he would forget where he was and became disoriented police had to bring him back home.

best not to pass or get near anyone like that and go the other way or keep far behind.

Diabetes shouldn't do that - do you really mean DEMENTIA ? My mom was having problems with similar incidents until my sister ( a Driver's License examiner for the State of Kansas) got her Driver's license taken away. I'm dreading having to do that with my mother in law - she still gets about fine right now, but she tries to avoid interstates as much as possible. And she does realize she's not as good as she once was....

Twice we have had people in a diabetic coma found on the farm property and taken to the hospital by EMT's. They don't remember driving there. The farm is on the end of a dead end street and they were unconscious when found.
