I own 2 valks, 97, and a 99. I am just wondering if the fan (thermo) switches are all the same, as in turning on the fan at set temperature.  My 97, seems to cycle on earlier, and run for shorter periods, and my 99 later, but runs longer. Just curious, as I should probably do a complete coolant drain, cleanse,  and refill, then see if it is any different

Same part number - guessing it may a good idea to drain, flush and refill both... or the one that cycles too much...

Could be the state of tune. A leaner carb mixture will run a bit hotter causing differences in fan operation.

Thanks. The 99 seems fine runs for a while, in traffic, shuts off once moving, seems normal. My recent purchase 97, seems to be different. I am planning to change the plugs, coolant, oil, filter(s), etc. Mainly just wondered if there were optional  fan thermostats, as in Honda figured out that  adjusting the on off settings worked better as they progressed through the  years. This 97 is in Hawaii, and this summer, we might as well be in Florida with the temps and humidity, (very unusual), but of course so I'm told ,there no global warming. I'll update, if after some maintenance, the fan operation changes from what it is now. Maybe I'll check the thermistor too, in a pot of water just to see when it closes.
