Porcupine forest vs. Pictured rock area.  Anyone ever hiked/seen waterfalls, cliffs,  etc. of both and thoughts?

going up there in September to see both if we have time as well as ATVing northern WI a few days.

Am sure 1 week will not be enough time though to do all 3 effectively and thoroughly NO way.

Maybe call in sick or take another week off work right!   cooldude

Just East of Thunder Bay is a Fort , Fort William, don't miss it. Or Keckabecka Falls just 24 m to the West. Both of them 2 stops are spectular. Past Thunder Bay to quimlet Canyon you can harvest gems. The water falls along the way are great. Don't forget to get see the falls at Wawa.
You can get currency exchanged at Rydens Store before going into Canada.
You will love this trip. A little extra time you could go North of Nippion for a venture that is great.
Funny a half dozen trips around Superior over20 years ago and I haven't forgot all the hot spots. There are way to many for me to mention.
Be sure to take a jacket as it gets cold around the Lake.

There have been many mentions on this board about the beautiful riding to be had in Michigan. There have also been a few threads about the location of next year's Inzane.

I have been around that other side of Lake Superior in my 20's long time ago and into Canada to see that waterfall was impressive, but that is on left side of Lake Superiour around Duluth MN and agree, all the state parks and waterfalls up there are amazing,  just want to be due north in WI near Hurley WI ATVing and head east this time to see Porcupine and even further east seeing Pictured Rock area.  I seen a few youtube videos and seems like both have excellent waterfalls and hiking.  My wife likes to hike and walks much faster than me not so sure I can do 10-12 miles per day of hiking keeping up with her though?
Thinking of bringing up my canoe as well and seeing the cliff formations along Lake Superior from the water side but after yesterday with a portion of a cliff falling off nearly hitting kayakers might not be a good idea?

seems like they were lucky not closer to the cliff...

I will put your information on my list for the trip.  I do have a stop for lunch in WaWA at Kinniawai Restaurant.  Will ask about the falls.  Going to make an overnight stop in Thunder Bay, so that will work for Fort William and Keckabecka Falls as well.

Will have our heated gear, heard it will be chilly, maybe even cold.

An old Lighthouse Bed and Breakfast in Two Harbors Minnesota; haunted, so they say, made a believer out of my wife a few years back (not kidding).  Unique.

Will put it on the list Oldfishguy.  However, that day is about 280 miles.  I know not a long day to many but still a day.  May not get a chance to stop.  That night's stop is in St. Cloud.

My wife is from Fairmont, MN so we are going to spend a couple of days there to visit some of her family.
