So wake up this morning, spend 45 minutes reading the news and then when I get up and head into the master bath I hear water running.  HARD.  I wander out into the house, open the basement door and blam....water everywhere.  A well line ruptured and we had high pressure water squirting everywhere.  We just spent the last 6 hours with the shop vac, 5 gallon buckets, etc. cleaning up.  Didn't help any that we had shelving right next to the well 8' x 4' three shelves high stacked with all of our paper goods, pasta, tools. camping gear, painting supplies, electrical stuff.  Have Greco and Haines on the way to repair things but holy crap what a freaking mess.

On top of that we have a colony of bats that have moved into our attic and today is the start of exclusion day.  August is going to be an expensive month!   Sad

Is it too early for a drink?

We had a water pipe burst inside a wall the other morning....Ran down to the basement and shut off
main supply coming from our well. Isolated each run to different fixtures, then determined which pipe  and where the issue was.  Yesterday we finished up replacing all water pipes in basement and in  interior walls.....
We bucketed water from kitchen sink to the $hitter for a couple days....Visited with my Mom so we could shower.....
Luckily we had the time to 'do without' and not interfere with a work schedule.....
Yeah, water can create havoc big time !!!

We were about 3/4 of the way finished with replacing the trim boards on the backside roof when this happened....
I'm curious as to when a bolt of lightning will be striking my ass......   Angry

We had one way cones installed at a few entrance points so the bats can get out but can't get back in. In a few weeks those will get removed and the entrance points sealed .  Bats are tricky.  State and federal protections make removal tough.

Oh how lovely my martini is this evening

Over the years I have 8 or 9 bats inside the house not something you want to wake up to trust me on this!
I have taken to sleeping with a large minnow net next to my nightstand my wife and I have gotten good a the catch and release deal!

Sorry to hear of you issues I hope it goes well and quick!

A colony in the attic is bad. If you are serious in your post you should investigate your attic and ask a bat / flying squirrel expert to check out your place

Sorry about your troubles Chris. Being a home owner for almost 40 years, I too have had my share of problems... but they all work out in the end. Keep the faith dude. Smiley

So in the world of you can't make this $hit up.....the same line ruptured again today.  Fortunately I had just arrived home from an appointment but still...everything we had dried off is all wet again.  I'm going to hammer the repair guy when he gets back here.  That is if Monkey don't hammer him first

No $hit Chris...  !!!!   What type of pipe do you have coming into your basement ??  Copper, copper
tubing sized plastic, 180# plastic, galvanized iron, brass ??

Honestly, I'd give Monkey the first 3 rounds with the repairman....the entertainment factor without
any admission charges would well worth it !!!

Hope you can get this fiasco fixed and settled once and for all.......

It's the PVC line from the pressure valve up to the electrical box. Turns out the last ass monkey didn't change out the line, he just squared off the break and reattached it

All fixed properly now but back to drying the place out again.  Phuckers

Kathy's first reply was "tell him I knew he had hate in his belfry." And she giggled. I love it when she thinks she's funny.
My response is, dude if we lined the basement with plastic like I wanted to, you'd have an indoor pool nicer than Bernie's.
I told Kathy he's going to point to the Northeast and say "100 miles that way."

I hope the PVC was specifically for water pipes Chris....grey schedule 80 or cpvc
and not the white/off white schedule 35........
Hopefully all is well and good in your down below storage space..

That sucks Chris and for you too Terry!  Been there myself this summer.  It turned out that it was time to build a false wall to be able to hang the tv on and a custom entertainment center for the home theater and cable box and subwoofer etc.  there went about 4 weeks of my life I will never get back.

Ain't it absolutely amazing what the "pure-fish-an-owls" can do when they "fix" things? I personally have been known for having bats in my belfry, it's what occasionally activates the "real" Karen. Sorry, Chris and Terry, I would offer to help out, but the net result of that generally is an even more expensive repair.... so I'm just saving you money by staying home...
