Rush hour NEVER ends in Atlanta! I have been through there at 2AM before and been stuck in traffic.
That statement on Birmingham is true as well. Dang those roads are rough!!

That's a pretty small Serkle... anyone excited yet?

Actually, it's bigger than it needs to be.   coolsmiley

And yes, I already have a good idea about the route east.  Hello Barber Motorsports Museum!  Finally!

I'm sure that it is a great museum.

But, I hope that Inzane XX isn't in Birmingham, AL.

Birmingham is the scariest place that I have ever ridden a motorcycle through!

I've been thru Birmingham several times without incident. Just curious, what did you find frightening about Birmingham? Smiley

I led a group of riders through there once, I think we were coming south down 59 and wanted
to leave out of there on 20. I had looked at the map that morning and I was trying to remember how many
Interstate intersections to go through to get where we needed to be, and I miscounted... Wimp had to
cut me off at the pass to keep me from taking a wrong turn and leading us in to, as I remember thinking
at the time, "the heart of darkness"... anyplace that looks like this doesn't seem like a "ride destination",
but a place to be glad is behind you  cooldude at least we were moving through the traffic, I almost
led us into gridlock...

Later that day they all got to remember why I was leading  Smiley ...

I'm sure there are places in Birmingham and any other large city that could be described as "the heart of darkness". I guess navigating by "counting interstate intersections" might be a good way of finding such a place. On Interstates, I usually use exit numbers if in an unfamiliar place. I've had good luck doing that. Never crossed my mind to count intersections. coolsmiley

Concerning the second picture, looks like you may have miscounted again. cooldude

Ok ...Left to Right … Joe , Don , Tracy and Wimp up front … Who are the other two on Interstates ? I remember that ride just can't place those guys . That's when my front valve stem snapped going down the road ( correct ? )   As Willow would say " Friends don't let friends ride on OEM valve stems " .

They're Leon and Sid I believe... they liked us OK, but they
didn't follow us anymore after that... it was as if I wasn't
taking a direct route or something... I wasn't lost at the
dirt road, I just couldn't tell it was dirt when I planned the
route with the red book... I bet we could have gone
through with no trouble... too bad Mitch wasn't there  Smiley

Their loss I love the hubcap redbook rides. Guess those are over now that you have the BFGPS.

Traffic was super heavy.

People were running 80+mph one minute and slamming on the brakes the next.

I passed 3 crashes in a 5mi stretch (one was a car that had flown past me only a couple of minutes earlier) and no one was slowing down.

Oh and all of this was in active construction zones.

I keep sayin' - the BFGPS is the redbook, open to the right page all the time, with a you-are-here pointer,
and a blue line that is the same route I would have picked out of the redbook... except now I
can look at the line instead of counting intersections in Birmingham...

I can get just as turned around with the BFGPS as I ever could with the redbook...

I too have turned around on a couple of those roads.

How do you find out where roads go if you don't ride along them?

Time for any final guesses.  If this location doesn't fall apart, we need to sign the contract by Monday.

The proposed location is within the latest Serkle (quoted above).
Neither the Ground Zero hotel nor its city have been named in this thread.

FYI, in PMs, 2 people have guessed the city, only 1 of those has correctly identified GZ.  They've been asked not to reveal what they know.

These are the closest to me since I have had the FatGirl. I'm really hoping it is not Charlotte, Ashville or Atlanta.  Hopefully up in the mountains away from the big cities like Linville, Grandfather, somewhere up there, if so I'm in.
