91 in an 80 following a car that slammed on his brakes changed lanes and there he was. The pic is actually a second ticket 2 days later for an expired inspection sticker. He was going to write me up for something he had already made up his mind. Poor West Texas counties depend on citations for revenue, but I'm at fault and accept that I am.

In Texas, the county gets the fine when the Highway Patrol writes the ticket?

Same as in Kansas, I'm not sure of the cut but it's like 60% to the county and 40% to the state.

Don't feel bad, Pat.  I got one the day before Thanksgiving.  The first MC ticket I've ever gotten.  (ran from one on a ninja once and got away, but that was over 20 years ago)  I guess the quip about "no, no gun on the bike, today" plus the menacing doo-rag (with the smiley faces on it) plus the fact it was a rookie cop riding shotgun being schooled by the trainer cop outweighed the combination of my admission that I knew I was speeding but was only trying to burn the Sea-Foam & bad gas out of the tank plus my half-hearted plea for leniency.  Hell, I didn't even care.  It was a beautiful day and I was riding.  It's been a year of firsts!

I really do need to get out ot Texas sometime. I might wait until the recession is over, and I will definately make sure my stickers are in date.
