I hope all you folks living on the southern east coast especially Florida and Georgia are getting ready for a major hurricane. This is going to be a bad one. It is supposed to intensify to a cat 4. Major flooding and long term with winds to a 140 mph. Looks like all of us living in Florida are in for a wild ride. Please stay safe and prepare now.

Its now slated to degrade and move north off the coast.  I don't know how they figure that, but, I hope they are right.

My wife and I will drive from NJ to Islamorada in the Florida Keys on Thursday, 9/5/19....(for my 65th birthday).  We knew it  might be hurricane season when we booked our resort months ago. We hope for the best, but also have a "plan B" if things get ugly....

Yep, that thing is turning into a monster.

Predictions were for it to decrease, but, it seemed as slow as it was moving and as warm as the water is that it could easily get stronger. Apparently it is growing. I hope it stays away from the coast. Its a hell of a storm.

saw on the news at 6 p.m. today that a lot of the florida citizens along the coast are going to stay even if under mandatory evacuation.  One couple with 2 kids age 11 on down were going to stay and their house was surrounded by water - that is dumb if you ask me regardless of how your home is built it will not be good.   If I lived anywhere within a few miles from the ocean I would probably be leaving for sure and boarding up the home and praying for the best possible outcome.  Never have seen winds over 70 mph and do not want to with several feet of water coming at me.  Water and winds cannot win over them.

I assume you can get flooding insurance in Florida, but although not cheap right?
