The Zoom meeting went well, it was nice seeing familiar faces again.
Everyone is doing well. Gary Wood is doing well and healing nicely from his tumble on the Joseph Rally. Drinks where toasted.
As for Valhalla 2020 Grand Forks, it was decided to move the date to Aug 27-30, with a 2ndary date of Sept 17-20.
I've send a email off to Johnny's, and msb or the 2 of us, will contact them for a follow up in the next day or 2.
Right now, there is nothing to be done. I have asked for the current date reservations be moved to the new date of Aug, with a follow up of any conflicts, which we will work with them to correct.
I hope this works for most, or even all, and we can still have a good showing for our annual international rally.

Heard back from Johnny's.
Currently Aug 27 of fully booked, and he's contacted the bookie to see if they are still going ahead with their plans. Will take a while, maybe up to a week.
The Sept 17 is fully open, and I asked for him to hold it for now.
I also asked about Aug 20-23, the week before. Waiting to hear back on that.
Just wait for a reply, and we'll keep you informed as soon as we can.

I’m doubling up from the NW board here but what about the 10th of September If August doesn’t work out. It’s earlier than the 17th and after Labor Day weekend. In the zoom meeting we danced all around it for some reason or maybe I just missed why it doesn’t work.
Msg I forgot to thank you for setting up that zoom meeting. I thought it worked out very well!

Reply from Johnny's on Aug 20-23. There is currently 21 of the 25 rooms available, so this would be an optional date for Aug.
Still waiting on the current guests reserved for Aug 27-30 to reply back on their dates.
Note: It was confirmed today, May 19, that the border will stay closed till June 21. Future opening to be verified.

I just heard back from Johnny's today, and the people who've booked the hotel the Aug 27 weekend, are keeping their dates.
Option 1: We have the week earlier, Aug 20-23, but there are only 21 of the 25 rooms available. Which would mean a 2nd hotel for the over flow.
Option 2: Sept 17-20, currently reserved for us, 100% available.
Option 3: Other suggestions?
msb, another Zoom this Friday night?

We're good with either date ( Aug 20-23 or Sept 17-20) provided the COVID threat is in the rear view mirror.

Mike, I didn't see any email or other mention of a Zoom tonight, in a 1/2 hr time from now. But if you are, I'm out, I'm running a high fever and am just not into it, trying to heal.
(not Wuhan, doing all the blood tests, just waiting on results. I was in hospital 30 yrs ago, with what I think is the same thing, for 4 weeks)

Gordon .... We're very concerned . Please let us know that everything is alright. Thanks Steve. So far, no secondary signs, only a temp, 36.3-38.7 (normal-102), so not Wuhan. Waiting on the hospital infectious decease unit for an appointment. No work today, temp stayed in the 37 C. note: just got the call from the Lab. My blood culture came back positive, and I'm off to the hospital.

Update for Grand Forks Valhalla 2020.
We have decided to keep it on the Sept 17-20 weekend.
We had gotten the whole hotel reservations moved over from June, so if you reserved room #1 before, you still have it.
What do you need to do? Nothing if you are coming and already have a reservation. If you can no longer make it, please contact Johnny's directly, cancel, and post here so someone else knows there is a free room.
We have been there at this time of year before. The weather is mild. We can get rain. But it will be nice.
At this time, the only unknown is if/when the border will be opened up. My worry is, that there was an announcement on Fri that the cruise ship industry will be closed till Oct. I'm hoping the border will be open before that.
Please forward this information on to others that you know.
Thank you, and the best to you all.

Well, I don’t think this country is going to be open enough for us to travel it in July as we planned. So I think I’ll plan on coming to this in September.

I changed my reservation back to the 3 nights in room 6. There was still room in there for someone else too.
Now I just need to find out what George is going to do?

Well, here we are, we should all be on the road to Valhalla Rally 2020, and sitting at home reading posts. Going to miss meeting up with all my fellow riders, shooting the sh!t and catching up on things. Some good times on the road, with good company. Sitting around the fire pit after dinner, enjoying some nice adult refreshments, and talking to you'll. Meeting up the first day, saying hi to old friends, watching Mike and Steve polish their bikes up (Steve laying his on it's side to clean under it). They shame me into giving my bike it's yearly wash, whether it needs it or not.

Haha, Gordon. I love this! I missed the first days at the Valhalla last year and only stayed one night. I hope I will make it up earlier this year and see more of that all. What I learned from last year is that I need a Hawaiian shirt... ordered one last week. I can't wait to show that one off I had a great time meeting you all last year for the first time and I can't wait to see everyone again and go for a ride together. In my opinion nothing beats the Valkyrie community!

With COVID cases going up and up in the US, it's looking less and less likely the border will be open so our American friends can join us. I hope things improve down there.

Been thinking the same thing....there's a real good chance that the border will NOT be open yet for non-essential travel come September. I'm hoping conditiona all around improve and that it is...Valhalla would not be the same without our brothers & sisters from the NW US.

Since they're going month by month with the 21st as the day being used, if they extend the closure another month after August (which is likely), then that would obviously cut off our American friends from attending on the 17th. That would suck for sure not having them there, but I think we should still go ahead with Valhalla regardless. There's enough of us Canucks registered to still have a decent meetup...maybe we can scare a couple more up from AB to come out as well. Maybe we can find a road somewhere around Midway, Oriville, etc. where the Yanks could ride up to a point where we can see each other across the border and share a toast or two

Big Kahuna - I'm sure you would be welcome on your VTX. The question isn't what brand/model you ride, but whether you can keep up with Valkyrie riders travelling at reasonable speeds on our day rides. A 750 Shadow with a passenger might have trouble. All - News reports as of today say the border will remain closed to non-essential travel at least until September 21.

As he so GR mentioned, the border will remain closed for another month, and after talking with Mike, it seems that the official Valhalla Rally will be cancelled. I'll contact Johnny's and let them know to cancel all the USA reservations. As of now, there is a possibility that some individuals will still be going to Grand Forks that weekend. So for the Canadians, don't run out and cancel your reservation. Think about it and see if enough will still be there to have a nice safe weekend together. There is a chance I'll be there, most likely reduced to Sept 18-20, and bringing the car.
