It's not a claim.  It's fact.

Although his discussion of  murder rates per 100,000 is not exclusive to firearm murders.  I don't think good figures exist (certainly not worldwide, country by country) weeding out only firearm murders (or firearm assaults, or suicides, or any other crimes besides murder).  It's just total murders by any means.

I also think the #1 spot of 90 firearms per hundred people in the US is also fairly wildly skewed by those of us in the gun culture who own ...... well, lets say somewhat more than the average gun owner.

But there is no disputing the simple fact that the highest firearm ownership rate does not equate to the highest murder rates.  And that must always be a per capita comparison, not a total number comparison.

And suicide should never be included in any gun crime statistics, even though suicide remains a crime in many jurisdictions.  Suicide is a very personal choice thing, by far the easiest way to effectively do yourself in quickly, and obviously the vast majority are not exactly career violent criminals.

If every mass (shooting) murderer would just kill himself (and no one else), we'd all be better off (him too), and pretty happy about it too.

I don't even know how many guns I have.  I don't make a hobby of counting them.  But it's more than one.  Used to be a LOT more.  Before the boating accident.  Pretty sure my extreme liberal brother will be calling on me when the SHTF propagating TEOTWAWKI.  Too bad he'll be on his own then after he pushed for disarming us patriots.  Geez I just don't have the guns to spare I used to.  Thx to his policies and friends.

BTW I've subscribed to Bill Whittle years ago and sent him $$ to support his efforts.  I think that Firewall is an old one. A bit surprised youtube has allowed it to remain.

I agree with Jess, suicide should not be included with these numbers.  If one wishes to end ones life there are a many ways to do it.

I also agree that many homes have more than one firearm.  Not sure how one could find out exactly how many guns there are in our American house holds.  Before I lost my gun safe there were several rifles of various calibers, and more than 3-8 hand guns.  Dang hated it when I lost my safe.  tickedoff

That gnarly retired female Army Sargent I ride P G R with once in awhile sent me something along the lines of what Whittle is talking about. Can't recollect Who to attribute this to but what she sent me was alomg these lines. With all the weapons and ammunition IF Legal gun owners were the problem don't you think it would be apparent by now? Yeah-kinda what I thought. RIDE SAFE.

The guns per capita doesn't surprise me too much. It also would not surprise me that if anyone tried to collect / buy (buyback is not really what it is, after all) all the privately held guns that there would suddenly be lots of them "disappearing" all of a sudden.

I live on 7 acres in a town that is comprised of 30 square miles. We have 3 policeman on duty at any given time. I know, my son is one of them. 4 years ago, I went away to Florida with my wife and Doberman in our RV and my house was burglarized. There is no way, in this world, anyone will ever take away one of my guns. In an incident at my home, with the police called out to another part of town, it would probably take 15 or 20 minutes at top speed to get to my house from the other side of town!
