Went to adjust the gear shiftier so my boot fit under it better, that worked great.

There was a disturbing amount of wiggle in the shifting arm. I saw some after market brackets for Valkyrie shifters but is this thing really supposed to wiggle around a lot stock? I can shake this thing back and forth easily. ???? Other option is do I have something wrong? The spline coming out of the engine actually moves which I have never had a bike that did that.

Jersey shifter mod. Consider that.

I read about that but I'm just surprised something came from the factory like this? Or did it? I'm trying to figure if I have more wiggle then normal?

The shifter mod is looking like a good idea.

The wiggle is normal. Both shifter braces available work very well. I have one and really enjoy the improved feel of the shifter.

120k + and that “wiggle” has posed zero problems.

I have installed a shift anchor mod on 3 of my 4 Valks.  The 4th is in storage for parts.  That has helped the shifting on all of them.  Worth it for sure.  I installed Jersey's on George as that was the first production one out.  Though I think the Shift Buddy as also well made, Jersey's is polished SS, looks best IMHO and it's on George, a trophy show bike so the bling is appropriate.  The other 2 have the Ammpro version, crude looking but works and a DIY mod from stock parts online.  George's Jersey shift mod:

If you look at how the shifter is put together, and how long it is, you get an idea why the support is needed: https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/honda/motorcycle/1998/gl1500ct-a-valkyrie-tourer/pedal
The bearings inside the case are good, but even they have a limit.

Agreed, when the gearshift spindle is added to the length of the shifter rod, it's a longer pry bar acting on the needle bearings (red dot, bottom pic). Double-row needle bearings, but still.

As suggested, may want to checkout my adapter at Jerseymcproducts.com    I sell these world wide and it'll completely solve the loose shifting issues.  Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions or concerns.  Takes about 15 minutes to install and shifting will be smooth and precise!!

Cheers,

Is anyone using these with Rattlebars' Kick Shifter?

Both of mine have them, and the support setup would be icing on the cake if it'll integrate.

We installed one at Taos Inzane; however, part of the front lobe had to be trimmed back so as not to interfere with the rear bolt of the Jersey Bracket.

I installed this shifter bracket on my Dad's valk which has the heel-toe shifter and it works great.  I did, however, have to drill the hole lower along the arc (not in the middle of the shifter, but lower down), to allow it to be angled up at the right angle, because he has cobra floorboards.
Great product.
