I haven't paid much attention to the Livewire as I'm not in the market for any more motorcycles at the moment.  So I was surprised to read that the price STARTS at $29,799!  To make it even less attractive, the range is only 146 miles, dropping to 95 miles for highway riding.  I doubt they'll sell very many.

So for the average Harley owner, that'd mean they'd need to re-charge the batteries twice, maybe three times a year, right?

Now that is funny, because it is true....

I think they are pricing themselves out of a market that does not exist....

Cummon, for $30K you'd think they could throw in a 200 mile extension cord.   Roll Eyes

That is more than enough distance for the Harley crowd, when on a run they try to keep the bars close so they do not get too thirsty.

Absolutely right. They transport them using a Telsa Model 3 with matching trailer.  uglystupid2

HD will struggle to compete.

https://www.zeromotorcycles.com/

Comparable Zero at about $17,000 BUT the faster charging unit only costs another $2,300 to $2.9  2funny

Charging the Zero SR to 100 percent takes 9.8 hours plugged into a conventional outlet, or 2.5 hours if you spring for the $2,300 optional Charging Tank. Once again you could opt to maximize the Zero SR’s range with a $2,900 Power Tank with another 3.6kWh power. With the Power Tank city driving range jumps to 223 miles and you can go up to 112 miles on the highway — as long as you keep it at 70 or slower.

They'll most likely sell a few to some treehuggin folks. Of course most of em do NOT realize in order to charge the batteries you either have to Burn something to generate enough heat to produce the steam needed for the generation of the electric power OR you use nuclear fuel for the heat steam generate cycle. But I betcha the tree huggers have over looked reality. RIDE SAFE.

Does it include an external speaker for playback of the potato-potato sound recording or have they figured out another electronic means of producing it?

While it looks very cool I would not buy the first year model of such a draschanged model car. Also they have no plans to release a manual version of the car.  For now I'll stick to my C7 Grand Sport!

I see H-D has suspended production and deliveries of the LiveWire.  No reason was cited, but it sounds like it could be safety related.

It's a problem with the charging system.
