Beautiful east Tennessee ( GOD'S Country )

« on: December 04, 2009, 06:53:52 AM »

Quality Inn ... 1875 New Haven Road...502-348-9253...You will need a room for Friday June 11 and Saturday June 12....Be sure to say you are with " The Whiskey Run " to save close to $20.00 on motel cost per night ( we need to have 30 ground level park at your door rooms filled in order to get this discount ) .

Don ( Highbinder ) and I just did a scouting ride for the June 11-12-13 " The Whiskey Run " . We rode some very nice two-lane country backroads in the Bardstown, Kentucky area. Folks that joined us last year on The Blue / Gray Ride to Gettysburg give some thought about this ride I'm thinking you will enjoy this one as well. We had a great group show-up last year and we are hoping the same for The Whiskey Run . We plan on riding to the Markers Mark Distillery on beautiful Kentuky backroads and also a vist to The Patton Tank Museum in Fort Knox. Keep in mind that Bardstown has many historic surroundings here are a few...Around the Town Carriage ( The carriage ride provides a slow-paced way to see the sites of historic Bardstown ) ....Bardstown/Nelson County Historical Museum (  In Spalding Hall, collection includes an original porcupine-quill-decorated Indian coat and one of the first Kentucky long rifles made in Bardstown by renowned gunsmith, Jacob Rizer )....Chapeze House "Kentucky's Home for Bourbon"   Bourbon Tasting (  Taste Ultra-Premium Bourbon from each Kentucky distillery ) .....Civil War Museum of the Western Theatre ( One of the four-most important Civil War Museums and Kentucky's largest collection of Civil War artifacts )......Click the link to view more http://www.visitbardstown.com/tourism/things2do.html

Hope to see you in Bardstown , Kentucky in June 2010 if you do call and make reservations please post back here that you did so.We blocked off 30 ground level park at your door rooms and need to fill them in order to get the discount on the room rate....Bring It...LET'S RIDE  Smiley

I'm sure you folks will enjoy this ride . The route we rode when scouting the area was great . Alittle more information about Bardstown, Kentucky...

Dating to 1780, Bardstown is Kentucky's second oldest city. Since that time when log, brick and stone homes rose from the wilds of western Virginia, Bardstown has welcomed travelers from around the world. For more than 225 years our southern hospitality, fine restaurants in historic surroundings, and accommodations have made you feel right at home.

We're strong in spirit -- A Southern spirit that welcomes you home to one of The Best Small Towns in America. A religious spirit that's appropriate for the home of the first diocese of the West. And a little spirit we call bourbon.

Our eclectic shops, cultural and historical heritage blend beautifully with that spirit. We're home to My Old Kentucky Home and Stephen Foster - The Musical, vintage trains, and museums dedicated to the Civil War, railroads and bourbon.

Our more than 30 annual events draw people from around the globe to sample the spirits, sounds and flavors that are quintessentially Bardstown. In fact, Kentucky's Bourbon Trail, of which Bardstown is the heart, was featured in 1,000 Places to See Before You Die, the New York Times bestseller by Patricia Schultz.

Come sample the spirits, sounds and flavors that are quintessentially Bardstown.

Picture below is Abraham Lincoln's boyhood home it's not far down the road from ground zero.
