I have led running lights and led headlamp and now my radio, included in a Woody's fairing, has static in the AM and will hardly tune an FM station.  I have tried the metallic traps on the wires for the led running lights near the light itself, but no difference.  Is there some way to shield the radio wires, or should I try and shield the led wires.  I can do the next time I remove the fuel tank.  The radio interference goes away when I turn off the running lights, but I like to leave them on for visibility.

if those running lights have a little black box in the wiring going to them. put an rfi choke on each side of that box. thats what i had to do and it quit interfering.
also if your head light is led you'll have to do the same.

When I switched my driving lights to LEDs I had the static problem.
I found this website, Radiodan.com.
Since everything I read there was Greek to me, I called their contact number, and the gentleman was most helpful. I explained the problem, he had the solution, cost me 17 bucks.
Give him a call,
Craig

I have an LED head light and no static.  So I don’t know about this one.

I had installed led headlights a couple of years ago that had the fans on the back. These did not interfere with the radio. Didn't like the light illumination on those and bought fanless ones of a different brand those interfered big time. They even interfered with my phone plugged into the aux. rfi chokes took care of the problem.

Anything that uses a PWM (pulse width modulator) design for brilliance control is going to radiate RF, owing to the waveshape generated by the switching transistors. The best solution is to shield the cables which connect the lights to the controller and choke the he!! out of the DC feed circuits.
