I know a few folks who left CA due to their own reasons, the problem I see is, they bring CA with them and try to make where they moved to into what they just left.   Look at what is happening in CO for proof.

We get that here.  People leave the Army at Ft. Bragg and decide they want to stay in the area.  That's good.  But, don't expect our small town culture will resemble where you grew up in Wisconsin.  I know there's towns where the German-Lutheran culture has everyone holding hands and singing around the Christmas tree.  Here we all get along, but also represent different ideas, tastes and cultures.  We don't naturally want to do everything together all the time.

With the cost of living being one of the highest, the taxes through the roof and now rolling blackouts for days at a time who would want to live there? The latest blackout could affect as many as 2 million people, that is nuts.

I am in Arizona.  I went for a ride to lunch, yesterday, with a group of motorcyclists and ever one of us was from California.  It is hard to find native people in the Prescott area.  California is a beautiful state with beautiful weather, but I couldn't get 40 million people to move out so I did.  This area of Arizona is also becoming "Calizona".  When I moved here 4 years ago this was a small town rural area, now there are six huge neighborhood developments under construction, and wells are drying up.  Gee, I wonder why!

Thanks for your concern, sir, but we here on the western slope aren't worried about Californians one bit.

“We’re building a wall on the border of New Mexico. And we’re building a wall in Colorado. We’re building a beautiful wall. A big one that really works. You can’t get over you can’t get under. And we’re building a wall in Texas.” ???

We just hope that the combination of both walls will keep the Texans at bay; their defeat at Glorietta Pass by the 1st Regiment of Colorado Volunteers wasn't enough to hold them off since 1862.  We gave them tiny Lake City to appease their braggadocio for claiming conquest of wherever they land. 2funny

I have family in Sedona area and go there maybe twice a year, even there it's being ruined by 'blue disease'.

Being from Chicago I moved to Ca in 1980 and was stationed at Vandenberg AFB.
Ca was a beautiful place to be in every sense, not so much anymore.. San Diego was a solid red military town but now has the same creeping blue disease.

Keep in mind many like me are trapped in Ca for one reason or another, the entire state is red other than the filth infested cities of SF and LA, it's not necessarily true that refugees from Ca are blue disease spreaders, at least not in my case. I'll be leaving Ca in 3-4 years when my girl retires, till then I'm stuck in this overpriced, over regulated sh!thole formerly known as the Golden State.

This is funny.  Still going on.  I remember back in 81-85 when I would ski at Vail and Beavercreek in February.  The Coloradans where railing against the Texicans back then, sometimes in not as good natured way as you have.  I think it was about them bringing their money in to buy up land and such and driving the cost up and thus the cost for the residents was escalating.

Let me assure you, the only concern I have reference CA is how much it's going to cost the rest of the nation when the socialist system they have bankrupts the state.   But, I will admit that CA has great scenery and generally wonderful weather.   I spent most of my Marine military time in CA.

Didn't feel very welcome there though.   At that time (Viet Nam era) we were not welcome except on payday.

The less populated rural counties are red.
The densely populated urban counties are blue.
Consequently Cali gets painted blue.
A Cali native, but as with many others, I'm fed up with the blue policies. That and the Marijuana industry - legit and illegit. Ready to make my exit from Humboldt, the weed capital of the nation. I get the feeling I'll be welcomed elsewhere just like my ancestors who came to Cali escaping the Dust Bowl in the `30s.

Never tried the Netflix thing, but Murder Mountain is well known around these parts. Plenty of good people around these parts still. The old school old fashioned way of life is going by the wayside. We have far more than our fair share of people with an ulterior motive behind their lifestyle. The thug life is what drives the economy around these parts. Hardly a week goes by where the local news isn't talking about crime - including missing persons - related to the local industry. The northcoast of Cali is beautiful, but after nearly fifty years I'm past done with this place. I'm an old duffer who carved out a life the old fashioned way. My kids made a good life elsewhere. They don't even come to visit anymore.

Wow I really feel for the bad for the people caught in this, what a failed policy and decisions have done to breed this. Many without power, many forced to evacuate, no information and where do you go to live while you wait this out? A very sad and concerning state of affairs. The blackouts and decisions aimed at preventing fires have done little to prevent havoc, fear and loss of property like this.

California's annual wildfires are back despite a series of planned power outages aimed at preventing them - the latest of which is expected to affect as many as 3 million people across huge swaths of the state.

The most intense fires raged through Sonoma County, with some 180,000 residents ordered to evacuate.

"The next 72 hours will be challenging," Gov. Gavin Newsom said on Saturday. "I could sugarcoat it, but I will not."

https://www.zerohedge.com/energy/california-fires-spark-mandatory-evacuations-wineries-burn-winds-hit-93-mph

The outages are unprecedented in scope — larger even than the controversial PG&E shut-offs that affected more than 2 million people earlier this month. Blackouts extending from the far North Coast and the northern Sacramento Valley down into the Sierra Nevada foothills, throughout much of the Bay Area and in parts of the Salinas Valley and Kern County.

In the North Bay, where the Kincade Fire is raging in northeastern Sonoma County, the impact is acute. Much of Sonoma County is subjected to the shut-offs, and in neighboring Marin County, officials said they expected virtually every customer to lose power. -SF Chronicle

Just prior to separation from Uncle Sugars Canoe Club in feb 68 I had a Lot of offers to contemplate. C H P had a good pitch. So did North American Aviation. So did Grumman Iron Works. Being as I was crossed trained I'd be back in the field-Company rep-at either N A A or G I W. C H P is self explanitory. Fer some reason even Then I did NOT want to be domiciled in cali. Course even my Home state-Illinois-is falling apart under the control of a party that's been in charge for cursed near ever. And "they" Still in charge in Il and cali. RIDE SAFE.

AOC just wants to know why those people don't just turn their solar panels on for power

Right, she is a piece of work  uglystupid2

We all know at night these panels dont produce power, but another thing is the ash.

Solar panels and wildfire ash:

In wildfire areas that are experiencing ash fallout, the ash can settle on solar panels blocking sunlight, much like a heavy buildup of dust would do. The ash sediment can reduce power production by as much as 30% if not washed off.

I couldn't believe this either, the solar panels are wired into the grid and if the grid goes down the solar panels on the house are useless.  uglystupid2

There are work a rounds but not for the average person.

Just looked at report that Generac sales in Cali are starting to pick up by quite a bit. But the real problem is putting in a generator in California is a major cost and the permits are enough to drive you crazy.

Once you get all that behind you and install your generator you had better have picked one with a decent engine and construction since the smaller ones are really not that good. With the outages they are speaking of it will be in constant use on windy days, not to mention the what fuel to run on.

My wifes whole family lives in cali with the exception of her mother and one sister. And all have been evacuated from there homes. They all live in Sonoma county. And guess what they will all stay there even though the same happened 2 yrs ago. And I am ok with them staying because they are all brainwashed Liberals. They need to stay together and not spread that infection.

You know what would be a smart thing is to have your house powered by your car. The hybrids should be able to do it on some of the house at least. Of course Tesla would not be able to do it for the length of time needed but they are starting to use the batteries from cars to be a backup for the house.

IF things were not bad enough there, now they are messing with the voting

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California’s more than 5.6 million independent voters will be allowed to vote in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary, but

not in the Republican contest, Secretary of State Alex Padilla announced Monday.

Translation: If you are listed as “no party preference” you’ll get a card asking you to choose which party ballot to vote for- but it won’t be Republican. Hear it all the time , folks from California   driving up home prices here in Arizona  , they can't believe how cheap housing is here  and don't even bother to negotiate the price down .

We are gonna run out very low on water  in the next 20 years and developers  don't care , they are here today and will be gone when that happens .

I have lots of clients who moved here from California  for  the same reasons , too many people and taxes .
I'd love to line in Ventura Ca

Happening here in NYS also. The Adirondacks are being turned into northern jersey.

Taxes in northern NJ as just as high as southern NY.  Average house is like half a million and average taxes are $15,000.  Over $1200 a month for them to take your garbage twice a week.

What I meant about the Adirondacks is that the folks from north Jersey come up and build their vacation homes and like the quaintness of the area. Then they try to turn that into what they are getting away from. There are now culdesack [sp] [ how the heck do you spell that, spell check doesn't even know] [ No wonder I don't want to live in one] in the middle of the mountains. I don't find the changes as good.

Here in Colorado, here's how bad it has gotten. I open carry while traveling alone on my bike, which is perfectly legal here in Rado. Twice Now! I have been riding down the highway when State Patrol has pulled me over. Each time I asked why I was pulled over. To which the Officer stated that 911 was called reporting a guy riding a motorcycle down the road with a gun Sad  Yup that's how ignorant the invasion is.

Same.... Nice area for the kids to play, limits the number of cars driving by, and makes for a huge back yard...

I know a few folks who left CA due to their own reasons, the problem I see is, they bring CA with them and try to make where they moved to into what they just left.   Look at what is happening in CO for proof.

Happening here in NYS also. The Adirondacks are being turned into northern jersey.

Taxes in northern NJ as just as high as southern NY.  Average house is like half a million and average taxes are $15,000.  Over $1200 a month for them to take your garbage twice a week.

I still remember the conversation you and I had about taxes when you and Oss stayed here on the way to spearfish. You asked me what I payed in property tax. I about fell over when you told me you payed 10k in taxes. Mine is still around $800.

Wow $1200 to remove trash. I pay $33 every three months and that includes 10 bucks for recycling.

I don't understand why people would leave and NJ and move to NY?? Out of the frying pan into the fire IMHO...of course NY State has some very nice motorcycle roads...South Jersey is like Florida...just with Less snowbirds...but that is also changing....seniors from NYC are moving to southern jersey...hope that trend continues for 5 more years...I will need to sell my house in 4 and I like to see a strong market...the question is...where to go from here...
