Cul de Sac.  I live at the end of one.  I'm pleased.   Wink

Same.... Nice area for the kids to play, limits the number of cars driving by, and makes for a huge back yard...

Cul de Sac. Hmm, OK.  They sure don't look right in the middle of one of the largest parks in the country. I guess I'm behind the times and too old fashioned.

I lived on a very nice cul de sac off base (March AFB) in Moreno Valley CA.

All drivers were at a snails pace (except for the kid who rode the crotch rocket up the dead end and got spread eagle on my driveway being arrested.  I asked the good officer if his offenses were just speed and eluding, but no other violence, and when he said yeah, I let the kid leave his bike in my driveway rather than being towed.  He even thanked me.)

It was all nice families (except the drug dealer and his girlfriend who moved in shortly after I did.  When people and cars started coming and going all night every night, and he took to smacking his girlfriend around in the front yard, the neighbors decided he needed to move, and someone put a few rounds though his house one night to speed up the process.  It worked.  It wasn't me, I swear, but I fully approved.

There was no clear boundary on one side of me, but that neighbor's huge Shar Pei hound let me know where it was.  He came out there (unleashed) and sat on the line and kept an eye on me whenever I mowed the lawn, and I never crossed it.  He never barked, and that was somehow even more ominous.

It was a great house, but when free base housing opened up for us, we moved back on base to save money.  There was far less excitement on base.  Except the time I turned the big industrial sprinklers on my yard (and got the Col's wive's Club fancy dress up tea party wet around the back.  I didn't know they were back there, I swear (until I heard the screaming).  I never turned the sprinklers on again without going around back and looking first.  Once was bad enough, but more than once and it would establish a pattern of smart ass behavior, which SAC frowned on.)

They paved my dead-end dirt road. Now it is a cul-de-sac, whenever my county
paves a road they put a big circle at the end so the school bus can turn around.

The desert.......

No grass so we don’t mow the lawn

No trees so we don’t rake leaves

No snow so we don’t shovel (super rare)

A wonderful trifecta of NOTHING  Smiley

LOL.  My point.  Every place has something.  Tarantulas don't hurt much but they are creepy.  We have widows.  Your count is not that bad.  Snakes help with smaller pests.

Scorpions?  I'll take the occasional snow but then I don't plow the streets.   Wink

It sucks to turn a school bus around, and even more to back it out of a dead end street.

Our school buses don't go down dead end streets or cul de sacs.  They will pick a spot on the main/through road and drop off multiple kids at once, I guess that saves time as well.

I used to plow with the Grafton DPW. I agree, but have to add that the ones with a big old median in the middle suck the worst. I'll take the open circle any day.

Yes it does and that's why cul-de-sacs are vital on some bus routes.

Did you know California pays more than it has receives ? Did you know Mississippi receives more than it pays ? Same with your previous state of Kentucky.

Not a surprise. That's fairly common throughout the country. The progressive states generally pay more money in taxes to the federal government than they receive back. Whereas it's generally the opposite for the conservative states. It's been that way for a long time and not likely to change anytime soon.

I have to chime in on the Coloradans flipping out over the rich Texans coming.  I love to visit Colorado but would never live there.  Every time one of the so called Coloradans start running down Texans I always ask where are you from?  They say Colorado. And then I ask where are you really from?  Its always the same Michigan, Minnesota, New York etc... no history to the state what  so ever too funny.
