It was recently announced that Rosie O'Donnell split with her fiance, Elizabeth Rooney, after two years. Now I can get a good night's rest after waiting the outcome of their engagement with bated breath, the result from hearing of a pending split. O'Donnell was referred to as a comedian in the article, still waiting for her to say something amusing.  uglystupid2

Yeah....slow night in Wisconsin. I swear, this has to be the gloomiest place I've ever lived....seems to always be cloudy and the wind is either blowing hard or it's raining/snowing...or both. Only bright spot today was the waitress at a popular local cafe. Stopped in for b'fast before my daily radiation treatment(8 left), been in there enough so they at least recognize me by face if not by name. I ordered and she asked "how do you want your eggs?"....I answered "cooked." She then leaned over and said "which one, you get two you know." So that old joke came to mind and I told her "one scrambled and one over easy." Being a good sport she just smiled and winked and put the order in. Shortly, she comes waltzing up with a plate of toast, bacon, and two eggs....one scrambled and one over easy. I looked at it for a few seconds so she asked if it was OK, to which I answered "they scrambled the wrong one." Without batting an eye she reached behind her and picked up a plate with one scrambled and one over easy on it and with a wry grin put the two scrambled on one plate and the two over easy on the other. Then told me "Johnny boy, I've also heard that old joke." We both got a huge laugh over the whole thing, and when I checked out she gave me a little hug and told me to stay warm. I most definitley was.  cooldude The encounter had the effect of raising my spirits for the rest of the day, even if the treatment today caused some problems for me over the next couple hours.

get use to WI being gloomy, rainy, and snowy if you want to keep here in WI.  Not sure you got snow up there or not, but here in southern WI get got already 2 fricking snowfalls earliest in history setting records a few days apart one was 3 inches the other around 4 inches (depending on where you live in the area more or less) and was still in October.  Highs next few weeks NOT above 43 degrees either lucky to see 40 for a high and usually is in low 50's still now.  Talk about your shitty weather, we have it here for sure.

I am NOT very optimistic I will be on 2 wheels anytime soon but putting everything up for the year until late March again.  SO NOT ready for winter first warm over 40 degree day going to have to take off work just to get stuff put up being 2 ATVs, 6 cycles, and 3 vehicles in an attempt to fit 1 car in the garage and if not, the misses will be pissed since she wants a spot cleaned out in the garage.  Right now NO fricking way.

Yes Cookie, we had the same snowfall up here. First one was kinda pretty but was mostly gone by the next day. Then the day after that another snowfall...both were about the same amount as you. That, along with no sun and mid 20's temps early morning really make for a real sucky day. I might look into either renting or buying a mobile home in Fla. for next year, haul the bike down there for about three months.

I like your persistent sense of humor, John.

I went for lunch at a local Texas-Mexican eatery.  They had a special.  Their highly promoted dish is the Pollo Magnifico.  For lunch they offer the Poco Pollo Magnifico.  I asked the server whether those smaller chickens were juveniles or fully grown bantees. He began to explain how the Pollo Magnifico was made.  I stopped him to tell him I was only kidding and that I have a rather dry sense of humor.

I like a good exchange with a server but I have been known to make a waitress cry.   Sad

It has helped over the last few months. Toni thinks I'm doing great, I tell her I feel better after a good laugh than I ever have after a good cry. She has my somewhat offbeat sense of humor, however her language gets a bit salty at times but I still have to laugh.  Wink

Jack, forgot you are along more so lake Michigan with lake snow effect am sure.  WOW  8 inches is a lot for October cannot remember EVER a snowfall over a dusting still in October and here we set records for snowfalls in October with 6-7 inches in 2 snowfalls back to back.

Got home Halloween late afternoon finding a snow shovel to scrap the frozen snow off and shoveling part of the driveway for kids trick or treating night this week.  Got home late 530 p.m. and not many kids out under 30 degrees with most parents driving their kids around.  What ever happened to walking the entire town 1 mile wide hitting up EVERY single house back in the day?  Kids are wimps nowadays!   coolsmiley    Am surprised as well the low volume of homes with lights on as well at 530 p.m..    The 25 or so kids could have handed out 3 candy bars vs. only 1 have 8 bags leftover as compared to last year well over 110 kids but hours suck from 4-7 p.m. use to be long ago say 5-9 p.m.

Great story John, love to give folks hard times.   Really like it when they give it back.

Sorry to hear about your gloomy weather.  We on the other hand have temps about normal, lots of sun, little wind.   Rides will happen before the winter weather returns.   laugh laugh

Restaurant I frequent has this one particular waitress I've been cutting up with since I retired. Definitely gives as good as she gits. In there yesterday-old peoples payday-couple of my friends from P G R and Combat Vats were stuffin food in their pie holes. And Laurie was waiting on their table and my table. She brought my coffee honey and ice water and sat down across from me while I had that first swallow of caffeine and took my order but she no longer brings a menu unless I ask now. Even when I go on my trips and tell her approx. how long I'll be gone when I git back she always gives me a BIG Hug and a glad yer back! To me anywho it IS worth the 25 miles down there to eat and cut up with her.
Far as yer crappy weather goes there John I alluded to that Very thing when you moved there!  Roll Eyes I KNOW when I visit my Bro and SIL around Christmas it are and will be COLD/SNOWY/CRAPPY weather. I'll see how things go there and maybe slide on up to G B while I'm in the nawth country. I left in 78 and sometimes I believe I ain't fer nuff south yet!  2funny RIDE SAFE.

Aww shucks Stu. Embarrassed  Wink  The other thing I do is speak softly so they have to move in closer to hear me. At least it worked on Rita over 30 yrs. ago. Grin  The best hugs are from the grandkids, last week I was at my daughter's place and her 12yr. old gal sat on my lap and leaned back against my shoulder. First thing I knew, she was sound asleep. That will warm the old heart faster than anything.  smitten

John,

Lots of good news this week! I just read where Jane Fonda in no longer incarcerated... Such a noble selfless person, sacrificing so much for the greater good. She and Rosie are such icons for all that is good in our land.

Not so good news about your continuing adventure, though! I'm afraid things on the weather front won't be improving any time soon for ya... but you already know that. As for the rest of the stuff hindering your fulfillment of 'the dream' I've got my fingers crossed for ya!!!

Bruce, things are looking up in the health dept., have 8 more sessions to go before I can hopefully start returning to normal....whatever that is for me. A couple days after the last appt. they're doing lab work to see where the PSA sits among other things. Still with the hormone shots for another 12 months, drives me nuts some days. After all this is done I'm hoping I can start hitting the gym again 3-4 times a week to build up my strength, this has taken a lot out of me and I tire quite easily. You suppose age might have something to do with it?  Grin  Looking forward to crossing paths w/you this coming year.
