Have any of the moderators thought about creating a place on this website where people can actually discuss freely and have arguments on any topic they may come up with without being inconvenienced by some dudes with 1,000,001 posts under their belts that can lock and delete posts to their heart desire?

Discussing thoughts, impressions, different angles of view is part of being a free man, without having to worry about censorship. We're not staring WWIII standing behind of what we believe and finding arguments that  crystallize our points of view. I tried and failed miserably. I guess I'm not really a free man after all.

Free speech is free speech, but this board is NOT the spot for it without restraints. If someone feels strongly enoiugh about any topic that they want to be able to say anything to anyone at anytime, they just need to start their own board.
Most folks poop everyday, but that doesn't bother me unless they are on my property at the time. Time and place, time and place.

Discussing one's thoughts and such is acceptable when done with proper respect.  When one starts attacking the individual rather than what was said is not acceptable.

Freedom?  When we were young we were told that our freedom to swing our fist ends at someone else's nose.  In the world of articulation that translates to my freedom to express my thoughts is in direct conflict with someone else's freedom to not have to deal with my personal attacks and disrespectful sh!t.

Take some time to read through the Rules of the Road.  They're not hard to find.

Those who will not abide by the Rules of the Road will find their posts removed.  If someone generates too much work for me he may find his authority to post at least temporarily suspended.

No.  I have no interest in creating a forum where people may behave like spoiled immature brats.

"Freedom of speech" is for those who operate the instruments thereof. In the case of a forum like this, you do have freedom of speech - up to the limits of the moderators / administrators of the board discretion. Around here, they are pretty much "let it go" on most topics and behaviors - as long as we act like mature men and women (and follow the posted posting rules (i.e. said "Rules of the Road")).

If anyone truly, really wants to see what happens when an online message board is mostly unmoderated and pure "free speech" rules, let me know and I'll PM you a link. It really brings out the worst in people and is not compatible with a family of friends such as we've built here.

Speaking for myself - I have no desire to see such a mayham. I agree about the friendship here, and like friends and families everywhere, we do have our arguements and disagreements. I'd rather see them within a set of rules like we have than just open whatever goes.

You proved my point of my previous posts whether you realised it or not, whether you found any truth in what I have said or not.  And you are absolutely correct in what you stated.

Since we are a "family of friends", and I'm a newcomer to this family, why don't we trust in people's ability to control themselves. Let's try that for awhile and see what happens.
Moreover, my posts were not directed at any person in particular. Were directed at human behaviour and the understanding of human nature with as little as preconceived ideas as possible.
The John Wayne syndrome has never had any appeal on me. Shall I feel at a loss because of that?

That's a bit of bullshit, Calboy.  I deleted the posts to which you refer. They were deleted because they did specifically attack an individual.  Incidentally, when I delete a post I will also delete an post that quotes the offending element.

Since you are a newcomer might I suggest you hold off a while with your suggestions to improve the board.   Smiley

I will give you one piece of advice. Don't say anything on here you wouldn't say to someone's face. You might find yourself face to face with that person at a Valkyrie rally..

I have found this board to be remarkably open to many varied viewpoints compared to most. I also agree the moderators mostly do a good job of controlling those that go beyond a good discussion and enter into personal attacks instead of rational thought. (Especially considering the pay scale of said moderators,  Grin). Most, if not all, political posts will be removed on another board I frequent while that same board will allow personal attacks on opinions on the boards subject matter (pre-50's v-twinkies ). It is tedious to follow a thread when some troll is continually harassing some one that disagrees with another members opinion about a virgin oil system used in the '30's. Yes, they really did mark their spot in that era.

I am perfectly fine with everything and I wouldn't want it any other way.
It's funny how people come out of nowhere to express some distorted opinions on somebody that is not dancing to one particular tune. It's called ganging up. But I'm okay with that too, and not just from behind the keyboard.

Calboy I'm new around here too and as such am hesitant to jump in to this particular discussion, but I feel compelled to do so. As far as I can tell this is a tight knit community with mutual respect being the glue holding it together (in my opinion).

I read your posts and frankly don't know what you're really trying to say.

What I do know is crashing into an established community full of good people willing to help others for nothing in return is foolish. Being respectful is always good policy. If you're serious about becoming part of said community.

Calboy, you would do well to drop this, let it die a natural death because it has been suggested in the past. Your plan wasn't instituted then and won't be now. You're getting nowhere at lightspeed and irritating folks in the process which won't benefit you. I'm guessing the majority of members are somewhat older than you and haven't found a separate message board necessary, mainly due to the fact that even with opposing views on many subjects we can cuss and discuss those views without problems. Yes, it will get a bit sticky at times but when we get together at a rally it's time to share a cool one and nobody worries about past interactions.

If what you have to say is that controversial, then possibly you need to take a look inside yourself or another forum. Be well.  cooldude
