Me, I'd just keep track of the extra miles ridden, and not turn it forward. Stuff gets broken.
You know what the miles are, and can tell any prospective buyer if you ever sell (or the DMV if miles ever need documented on the title).
What's 2300 miles on a half million mile machine?
I had a Hog with a cheapo plastic speedo/odo. I didn't want to turn it over to 0 after 100K (and maybe have it freeze up entirely or break, because it had that reputation) (or have someone wonder if it had turned over
twice, as it was almost 20yo), so I unhooked it close to 100k, and told the buyer it had 3K more on sale a while later. Of course, that bike needed a whole new top end and carburetor and cam at 70K (as usual).
