The cable broke on my 2000 C model while I was at IZ XVIII in Roanoke.  I made note of the miles on my Garmin so I would be able to add back the miles ridden before repair.  Well, I finally got around to doing it and I need to know if there is a "Plan B".

I need to get from 107,774.0 to 110,099.9 (I know - not a lot for 17 months, but that's what a new primary bike will do) and my Ryobi drill will only rev to about 30 mph.  I don't want to burn up a drill / deal with it for 80+ hours...

I know some people would be more interested in rolling miles off, but I want every mile I've ridden to show.  Is there a way to advance the odometer internally after opening the housing?

Thanks in advance,

Dave

I had a similar situation; took mine to a speedometer shop and they updated the odometer for me, only took a few minutes and the charge was minimal.

Me, I'd just keep track of the extra miles ridden, and not turn it forward.  Stuff gets broken.

You know what the miles are, and can tell any prospective buyer if you ever sell (or the DMV if miles ever need documented on the title).

What's 2300 miles on a half million mile machine?

I had a Hog with a cheapo plastic speedo/odo.  I didn't want to turn it over to 0 after 100K (and maybe have it freeze up entirely or break, because it had that reputation) (or have someone wonder if it had turned over twice, as it was almost 20yo), so I unhooked it close to 100k, and told the buyer it had 3K more on sale a while later.  Of course, that bike needed a whole new top end and carburetor and cam at 70K (as usual). crazy2

I lost the bottom tab on the gear box for the speedo and by the time a new one came I had 1000 more miles on it.  I know it and if I sell it my records would show it just to keep things honest.

I figured it is possible.  I would like to hear from someone who's actually done it before trying to hack my way through it.
