A Berkley Professor stated that the folks in middle America are "Bad People", "Make Bad Decisions", and "Deserve to Live Uncomfortable Lives"

This is what is teaching our children.

A while back, a "journalist" stated that he didn't believe that the Ford F-150 pick-up was the #1 selling automobile year after year,...... BECAUSE HE DOESN'T SEE THAT MANY IN NYC.

Another "journalist" just recently flew over middle America and wondered how the earth created that patchwork terrain he was seeing below.  Farms never even entered his thought process.

When the left finishes taking over all of our educational institutions and processes, we'll officially be considered a dumb nation.

Let's not forget that there is a currently sitting congressman who believes islands are floating around in the ocean and can flip over if too many people stand on one side.

Having lived in Fly Over Country (Indiana & Ohio) all of my life all I can say is Thank You to the idiot journalist and college professors in the seaboard states.  The less they think of us the more they will avoid moving here, the more they avoid moving here the more pleasant our simple lives.  I wouldn't trade my little ranch house for any of their high rise pidgin pens on a very large bet.

As far as the teaching, that left years ago.  Now it is just indoctrinating the young to the leftist position of the "educated".  One of the reasons I decided to leave the classroom behind.

Now you're bringing up a whole nuther issue.  Are we supposed to forgive ALL loans?  Is Bernie saying we have to pay for someone's CHOICE to go to a very expensive school?  The difference between a local community college and Purdue is over $60,000?  Also, do we have to pay for housing and meals, or just the tuition part at these very expensive schools?

All this can be added to the logic of bringing back the draft.

2-3 years enlisted service in any branch would go a long way toward bringing pampered youth into reality, and learn some respect, discipline, and responsibility, and actually earn a few bucks, and maybe some education benefits.

PS: (I'm glad I won't have to serve in any foxholes with them though, and hey... foxholes are safe spaces aren't they?.  Grin)

I realize that I am preaching to the choir here but if you cannot afford college or at least have a plan to pay for it should you really be going?

I mean if you cannot juggle finances or have a plan and purpose for your life how can you make a living and projection that you will pay for future expenses? College is not for everyone and an expensive college should be purpose driven.

Its a shame that technical training and schools are so looked down on.

I worked with young new lawyers right out of school at USDVA, owed $200K in student loans.

I don't believe any education is worth that.

They started out GS 9 at $32-3K, and had to have a car, a place to live, clothes and something to eat.  If you ate lunch in DC it cost $2500 a year (with 10 percent tax).  I packed my lunch, every night.

It is up to us to get the kids heads on straight before they leave High School

Sometimes we can actually do it and sometimes we do not or maybe they just do not listen

4 yr College is not for everyone and should not be a default as it is today. The education system is a corrupt racket in many respects.

There is no substitute for hard work at a day and night jobs to motivate a kid to succeed.  I know it helped for me and was the kick in the a$$ that got me thru 7 yrs college and law school.

Teach em to question everything and ask why things are the way they are. Do not accept what you hear as gospel

Our country has a significant shortage of skilled laborers because the emphasis has been that "everyone" has to go to college.

Not everyone has the capacity to obtain a 4yr degree.

Besides, there is no shame in being an electrician, a mechanic, a plumber or any other number of skilled labor jobs that are needed to make the world go around.

When even a neurosurgeon struggles for a decade or more to pay off their college debt, college has become way too expensive.

This is how I see a $70-200K education debt.

In the old days, that kind of debt was mostly always (only) a mortgage on a home.  Usually a good lifetime (30yr) investment of capital, and providing significant stability to the American middle class and family.

Adding a mortgage to the education debt is an awfully big interest bearing nut to saddle yourself to.

How about a 2-year boycott of all colleges and universities to convince them to lower their prices?

Or something.

Hey, Jess.  UNC Wilmington and three other state universities here in NC have $1000 a year tuition.  Sure there are other costs, but they are what most folks consider reasonable.  The Bright Futures program in Florida put a lot of students through tuition-free.  Some semesters there was funding for books and fees, too.  As the father of twins, that program worked great for our family.

If a student attends Duke or Johns Hopkins, it will be expensive.  Georgetown and GWU too.  One makes their choices hopefully with good advice and information.  The Piper must be paid.

I would agree,

Current candidates are all about this debt relief payoff BS. I haven't heard a politician get to the root cause of the problem and ask "Why does college cost so much?"

A little (couple hundred miles) south of where I live is the College of the Ozarks.  They charge no tuition and discourage indebtedness by their students.  All students work within the College.  The description of the College of the Ozarks includes cultural, Christian, and Patriotic.

CHOICES

My favorite word.  You can get a law degree from NYU or CUNY.  The latter costs 1/10th the price, but the former will get you in the doors that that the latter won't.

For the most part I have to agree with you Gary, But:  I taught for 20 years at a college that my high school transcripts would not have even gotten me accepted to as a student.  Sometimes it is more important what you do after you get the diploma than where you got it.

Of course what you do with your education is important, but a degree from NYU law or Harvard law will get you interviews and starting salaries that Queens College, CUNY law won't.  A degree from Johns Hopkins med will get you interviews for a residency program that a graduate from Costa Rica med won't.  That's why these schools, in spite of $60,000 - $80,000 yearly tuitions are the most competitive to get into.

The-Well we THINK it's a female-that did NOT git elected was sposed too and the ds and moon bats are Still royally pissed off. And I've heard more than once from "political reporters" some but by no means all-he did nothing impeachable. Had that been a business deal he was doing in the Ukraine phone call I believe it would be called playin hard ball.
Another thing-what gives congress the "right" to demand and get 8 years of now President Trumps tax records? MAYBE and I STRESS MAYBE those tax records since he took office but I M H O no no records at all cause the dummies there would expose everything.

But I bet #1 in his class didn't do too shabby.  To be #1 demonstrates a person's drive, and competitiveness, as well.

Imagine # 1 in the class of 2019 from NYU or Harvard Law.  Bet they have their pick of 6 figure corporate jobs.  I'm sure they won't have to worry paying off that student loan.
