to usually ask for a favor. But....my wife is in need of one. We, actually she, has been going thru some terrible times with a medical problem with her eye. We’ve been to several doctors, had numerous procedures done, medicines prescribed, with little effect in the end. My daughter drove her up to Vegas today for another appointment. I just got off the phone with her. Things aren’t looking good. Nothing seems to be helping, and the pain is continuing to get worse.
For those of you with a belief in a higher power we could sure use some of your prayers. For those that don’t believe, some positive thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks for giving me a chance to emote.

A strong prayer of hope that your wife shall obtain relief from her pain and finding eventual assistance in finding the source of the problem with her eye.

Keep on searching for the answer by persistent seeking out of that one person or persons who have the knowledge and ability to diagnose and correct the situation.

You folks down in Arizona have the nearness of the Mayo Clinic at your disposal; if you are being painted into a corner and have not sought out their services, it may be another avenue that can open a new path of investigation.

Thanks guys.  cooldude The Mayo clinic has been discussed. The guy she is seeing in Vegas is supposedly at the top of his field. It's been a battle for almost 6 months or so now. One step forward and two steps back.  Angry Looking back at things, it's been going on for a couple years now. We just didn't realize the seriousness of it, and thought it was part of the aging process.
Jess, I'm not sure if there is a name for the condition. If there is, it has escaped me. As best I can understand it, her glands in the eyelids are not working. Which provides lubrication and natural healing for any minor things that happen to us on a daily basis. Because of this, her cornea and parts of her eye have been and are taking a beating. She has had laser treatments, she has had contacts made out of placenta for healing, she has had a machine do some kind of massaging, kneading of the glands, she has had eye drops made out of her blood, she has had more steroids, antibiotics, medicines, drops than I can count. We had a little positive news last week when I took her to Vegas, only to be crushed today to have all of it take a dump and be near dire now. The threat of her losing her eye is starting to not be so hypothetical anymore. She is worried, I am worried.

Thanks again guys. It helps to talk about it. I was near distraught when I talked to her at lunch time.

My wife was Turkish, and had hard contacts (over there) growing up.  No proper cleaning or solutions or doctors either.  By the time we married, she had the underside of her eyelids all eroded, ridged and dry, and they drug on her eyeballs every blink.  USAF doctors made her quit the contacts and go back to glasses (she hated), and other various treatments.  Not as bad as Brenda, but bad enough.  It took years for that condition to improve back to normal.  Why I asked, it sounded similar.  I can't recall a named diagnosis either.

I hope they can get it figured out and treated.

Rob, (hope you don't mind as we've never met) I've sent prayers up from San Diego. I hate to hear of this kind of thing happening and you seem to be a great guy.

The reason I'm chiming in here is that sometimes our medical system falls short of true 'health care'.. I've had great results using natural medicine, i.e. mega vitamin therapy, and the like..

I dug this up from a great site called doctoryourself.com, it's put together by Andrew Saul, one of the natural medicine greats, his site was condoned by Abram Hoffer, a giant in orthomolecular medicine.

Here is the text:
Supplements Help Women
Suffering from Dry Eye
Several studies have found that people with dry
eye, technically known as keratoconjunctivitis sicca,
have low levels of omega-3 fats. In a new study,
researchers at the Eastern Virginia Medical School,
Norfolk, found that a combination of omega-3s with
gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), a plant oil, led to
significant improvement in dry eye.
John D. Sheppard, Jr., MD, and his colleagues
treated 38 post-menopausal women who had dry eye.
Some of the women received supplements while
others took placebos daily for six months. The
supplements included 126 mg of eicosapentaenoic
acid (EPA), 99 mg of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA),
and 240 mg of GLA, along with modest amounts of
several other vitamins and minerals.
By the end of the study, women taking the
supplements had significant improvements in eye
irritation symptoms, better corneal smoothness, and
lower levels of blood markers of inflammation.
The omega-3s and GLA suppress proinflammatory compounds, such as prostaglandin E2.
Reference: Sheppard JD Jr, Singh R, McClellan AJ, et al.
Long-term supplementation with n-6 and n-3 PUFAs improves
moderate to severe keratoconjunctivitis sicca. Cornea, 2013:
epub ahead of print. ❑

Have you considered talikng to an orthomolecular doctor in your area?

Note**
Not medical advice, just trying to offer another potential treatment/recovery option.

Best of luck to you

Everyone’s thoughts and prayers are appreciated more than you know ! She is probably holding up better than I would be in the same circumstance. As those of you who know her, she is a pretty special lady. Thank you all !
