That is I, and most of you.  Thank goodness there's some place I can vent once once in a while.

If you know me, you know my wife, and you know that in this charged political atmosphere, the differences in race can lead to some disagreements in other areas of life.

I recently posted my displeasure with the likes of Kaepernick on Facebook and I got hit with some flack that I wasn't expecting.  Cheryl, who isn't on facebook, got wind of the post a few hours later and I heard some things that could make me out to be un-sympathetic to the cause.  When I tried to convey my thoughts and feelings about the issues and how K went about "raising awareness" it all got turned around to Trump.  We're OK with what Trump says and does, but not OK when a minority does something to upset things, etc.  Next thing I knew I was taking the dog to the park to get out of the house.

And then it was all a publicity stunt anyway.  I fell for it.  Mission accomplished, Kaepernick.

I had heard somewhere that Kaepernick was  no better than a 2nd or 3rd string QB anyway, and if you're going to antagonize a good chunk of of football fans - maybe he should have considered the consequences of his actions.

Gary I commented on that FB thread after Fay turned it into political about cops killing unarmed black men. Your original thought was right on point. Fay turned it around. Kaeprinick is a moron that threw away a football career to make a political statement.

If he wants to make a political statement then he has that right. He should not have that right on the job on paid time. No one else can. He was being paid to play football. Not make political statements on that time. Has nothing to do with race in my book. I don't care what color he is.

Really sorry that stinks.

I only know bits and pieces of your story but wondered about how difference would play out with what I know. I would chalk it up to no to people are going to agree on everything. Plus to get so upset over K is really not worth it. IF that is the only difference you are WAAYY ahead of the game.

She's done that before.  I remember giving Trump an AttaBoy when he announced the move of the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem.  I expressed my pleasure and ended it with "My President".  Fay replied with "Well, he's not mine yadda, yadda, yadda."

There are so many good people and such better causes to get behind when it comes to equality and civil rights yet it's these fools that seem to garner the recognition and following.  I know, I know, whom am I to say who others should trust and follow?  I'm just on the fringe and not really living the struggle.

I know the feeling Gary. I have a liberal friend on FB. Every now and then he will show his displeasure with some Pro Trump thing I post. This morning he commented on one of my shares. A conservative friend of mine named Bob who is also friends with this guy shares more pro Trump stuff then I do but this guy never comments on Bob's posts. I asked him why he never comments on Bob's stuff. He never answered. I think it's time to dump another "friend".

Gary,

The intolerance of the 'champions of tolerance and inclusion' is mind-boggling for sure! I admire how you and Cheryl manage to make a solid relationship, when so many factors might work against y'all. Different cultures produce the foundational template for different views of the world and nearly everything in it... Only good people who aspire to greater understanding and harmony can overcome such different basic perspectives and actually 'bridge the gap' on so many things. You appear to have found that in yourselves and in each other. Congrats!!!

P.S. Having to retreat to the dog park, notwithstanding...

I saw the post on FB as well and agree 100% with the comment above.
