I feel for those who are being punished for it now.... Sort of like those who died in the last days of a war, what's the point?

And I say this as someone who personally can't stand weed, it just makes me nauseous and wanna vomit but really, let's give it up please?!?!?!

The point is that what is against the law is against the law.  We don't stop enforcing laws because sometime in the future the law MIGHT be changed.

A quick look at the impact on Colorado will display the foolishness of legalizing the drug.

I have never used weed, nor plan to.  Beer is my choice of recreational substance.

Oregon went with weed several years ago and so did CA.  Both states still have issues with non legal weed farms, over production of legal weed, and still have those under 21 getting the weed.   And where to put the legal money as banks have to follow the federal rules on weed.

Nothing is really change with weed problems by making it legal.

Are you impaired by weed? Congress hasn't gone green. Like so much valuable news of often you missed one important word from the title of the very article you link. committee

From your link:

"Landmark bill legalizing marijuana at the federal level passes House committee"

"The landmark bill marks the first time a congressional committee has passed a bill in favor of legalizing marijuana at the federal level. It will still need to pass the full House before moving to the Senate – where it’s likely to stall."

Thank goodness it will never likely see the light of day in the Senate and hopefully everyone in the full house hasn't gone green.

The proper methodology for weed is to take it off federal schedule #1 of narcotics, and move it to the bottom of that list, and to decriminalize small amounts of an ounce or two (not a gram or two).

This is not legalization of what clearly is a broken windows gateway drug.

Look at other subjects... like what used to be common vagrancy (selectively enforced for the common good) is now protected homelessness, with predictable results of sh!t hole inner cities.

The left loves to buy these votes (any votes it can really), although it's doubtful they vote at all.  Since they can't earn any votes with an actual viable political platform, they must be bought by pandering.
