Before I sold the Bruce bike. I guess I was riding that bike to church most times. Now that I’m back to one bike of course I’m riding the cobra bike. Last night someone said I see you got a new bike. He meant brand new, not new to me. He didn’t know about valkyries being out of production and all that. I told him no, I’ve had this one 18 years. He about lost it. Then he asked how many miles. I bet we was expecting garage queen miles. When I told him 170k that really shocked him. The cobra bike ran a bit better on the way home last night. Well could have been the cool air but still.

Jeff,
Yep, they truly are special. Hard to spend a couple of decades with anybody or anything and not develop a deep admiration and appreciation for them... In time, we tend to personalize them... and they us! I really like the dash panel you've come up with... looks sharp!

I often hang out at a local aftermarket old guy Vtwin shop. They provided good service for my old Harley for a long time and are friends. I'm about the only non-Vtwin bike in the parking lot that ever shows up there. I get some good natured ribbing from time to time, but when I tell them our longest rider has some 650K miles with no engine or trans work to speak of, they just stare at me with incomprehension.
On the other hand, when one of them finds an old Indian Vtwin rusted out basket case in boxes for $15K and can't believe his good luck, I'm the one shaking my head in disbelief.

There are restored woody boat dashes that do not look that nice.

Thanks guys especially about the mini dash. That thing has been a trooper. I refinished it once but that was a while ago and it’s still good

Purple Heart but some of the red has been washed out by the hours spent in the sun. This is how it looked years ago when I first made it. Much more red.
