Throughout history, every group of good people has had a few bad apples. Sadly, certain individuals over the last decade or so have done their very best to convince the sheep following them that the police are generally bad with maybe a few good ones. Personally, I think the tide turned right here in my home state of Massachusetts with the famous "beer summit" incident in Cambridge (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Louis_Gates_arrest_controversy ) A local incident was thrust into international news, and the police were said to have acted stupidly by our then-president. Further incidents were turned into a media circus, trying to find fault by the police in every incident, even when filmed evidence proved otherwise. Still, you can throw a grenade and then try to take it back, but the damage is done. What I will tell you, is that in my opinion, this was a calculated plan to shift society as a whole. Sadly, I feel that the plan has worked.

The people who most don't like the police are traditionally the same people who need (and earn) policing the most (per capita).

I always think that those most anti-police should just be abandoned by the police for a couple months, and see how that goes for them.

I'm not personally a fan of the extent of militarization of police in general, but it has become a pretty dangerous occupation, and I have not walked in their boots.

Civilian policemen work in same world as our military since Vietnam;  the enemy walk among them and there is no simple way to tell the good guys from the bad guys.  Until the first guy out front gets shot.

And it's gotten pretty bad when a cop can't go to any public restaurant for lunch and can't be sure if someone won't put a razor blade or poison or spit in his food.

Perpetual left and right political turmoil and media hate mongering sure doesn't help any either.

Course on the other hand they are now saying-U P S truck shoot out in Florida-that the L E Os may have over reacted. The two bad guys and two innocent civilians are all expired. I also know there Is lotsa news footage and mayhaps some body cam footage but the on Scene L E Os-I M H O-were in a no win situation. That being said I was Not at the scene I do Not have their training nor expertise and more importantly I was Not behind a weapon or the body armor. And I am happy the bad guys no longer pose a problem and Sad two innocents lost their lives. And who in their gourd believes they can escape in a U P S package car? RIDE SAFE.

We had a local officer shot and killed here a couple of days ago. He was a 20’yr veteran of the force and worked with a tactical drug unit.  He was with the unit serving warrants   When they pulled up the offender stepped out of the residence and opened fire. The officer was laid to rest today next to his Father who was also A LEO killed in the line of duty some 30 yrs ago.
The offenders mother came out yesterday and said she didn’t understand why everyone was saying her son was Guilty of this. She stated her son would NEVER kill anyone especially a Police officer. (He had a arrest record about 5 feet long). He is a good son.

I do not think a day goes by where we do not hear of someone shooting at something or someone even locally now.

Most shooters are young adult males under age 30, from what I have mostly seen as well, not that it matters.   Good sons, yah right!   Angry

Wanna bet if my brother a few nights ago tried to detain the person breaking into 3 homes (one his home) not letting him leave the area his butt would also be in jail?  I say a good baseball bat (not basketball bat - LOL) to the knee or leg would suffice him from leaving the area?   Even my snow broom to the leg in the car would probably have done the trick...
