Sometimes ya just gotta go...

Winter Springs, FL - Occasionally...

« on: December 10, 2019, 05:22:08 AM »

I’ve read several descriptions, definitions and/or explanations over the years of what that might be… one of which applies to my thinking at the moment: That is, “It is all that happens to us in the period between the times when we wear diapers.” Well, if those truly are the bookends of life (actually conception and death are the real boundaries), then there must be some modification to that statement and/or allowance factored-in for multiple episodes of diaper-wearing… I’ve now completed, for the most part, two such periods, and I ain’t dead yet! There might still be another one or more out there in the mysterious, murky future for yours truly, but… for now, anyway, I’m still in the game!

Yep, I can now happily proclaim that my post-op time (just about ten months, now) of unwanted, involuntary ‘golden showers’ is drawing to a conclusion! And good riddance, too!!! That whole experience has been uncomfortable, awkward, inconvenient, embarrassing, and downright unpleasant. A necessary step in the sequence of events, though, that must occur to reach the other side of the prostate cancer discovery, treatment, and recovery process…

I can joyously report that I’ve not had to wear a diaper or pad in several weeks! I’m not ready to claim a complete end to all of these depressing, damp, annoying happenings, however. Nope, I still have the odd incident, but the actual needs for those moisture trapping devices are minor and of little consequence. I do continue to keep them handy, of course, and I will continue to carry them with me for some time to come. I’ll likely even wear them as a precaution in some cases on occasion, too.

For ‘light’ activities, though, I’ve recently been without the requirement of a ‘catch mechanism’ for inadvertent discharge. Hanging around my land-lady’s house, sitting in that danged ol’ recliner, short drives to some local destination… no dire need! Yippee! No pee! Heck, I’m feeling so good about all of this improvement, I’m actually contemplating a therapeutic road trip to celebrate and to add a suitable benediction to this nasty little distraction from better things…

Life between the diapers?  Never thought of it that way.  Does it bother me?

That depends.

I love how your stories don't involve ego. Many people wouldn't talk about such things. You are one of the most honest, humble story tellers I know.  cooldude
It got me to thinking though. I wonder what people did "back in the day" ? Cotton t-shirts stuffed down there ? We have come a long ways where one doesn't even need to go to the store for such a thing. Just order it on your phone and they show up at your porch in a couple days.

Good news Bruce indeed.  Iris wanted me to ask you if you remembered buying some colored Chapstick and applying said lip balm and a big old smile at a traffic light.  Ring any bells?

Thanks all! Yeah, I'm feeling pretty good about things generally... OK, except for being impatient, of course. Still, sometimes I seem to make long strides, other times more like baby steps, but nearly all in the right direction, at least... A long drawn-out process for sure; however, no complaints here!

I'm returning to Montgomery, AL, for more doctor-doings... a 'Peek-a-bootie' Monday morning, and a follow-up with my urologist Tuesday morning... Assuming those don't reveal any unpleasant surprises, I can then let my thoughts drift towards you-know-what!!! I am so lonesome for the open road and distant horizon... Ready to get Sunday behind me, too!!!

Terry,

Iris has a good memory! Yep, I also recall that curious event... It was Cherry Flavored ChapStick... and it gave my lips a 'rose' hue that did indeed attract a wee bit of unwanted attention! I've since stayed strictly with the neutral colored and/or flavored version of that balm!!!

Heh...I *know* that impatience...but I also know just how big a deal it is...how much of a difference to the id it makes...when the steps, whether large or small, seem to be in the right direction. What a feeling when we're finally headed down the road!

Rock on my friend.

Bruce, glad to hear of improvements in that area, I found it to still be a bother even though different processes were used(no removal cuz I'z too old). The radiation, although painless externally, sure messes with the plumbing internally. The result for me was much the same as yours except a much reduced time period. After nearly a month since that all ended, I'm now back to normal in both areas of "relief." I sure wish I was still in Florida, we could meet up somewhere for some long-missed southern BBQ....BBQ Bills in Chiefland comes to mind.

Hope to hook up this next summer. (hmm...the term "hook up" will bring out some remarks I'm sure)  Grin

Daniel,

I always enjoy reading your take on things. You have an unusually keen insight into the really significant things in life, and you also have an enviable skill for reducing your thoughts down to meaningful, impactful words. Clearly, you see many things from a nuanced angle not known to most of the rest of us, and you grasp perspectives all of us need to consider, but more often than not we miss... For what it's worth, I'd vote affirmatively for you to add 'philosopher' to the list of occupations for which you are best known and most proud...

John,

Well sir, don't feel short-changed by missing out on the more typical length of discomfort from all of this! Good on ya fer finding a shortcut, though! Hope things work out for ya... I'll have a wee bit better notion about my own prognosis after Tuesday... As for BBQ, yeah, I've had some lately... it's just in me, ya know! And, I do drop by Bill's establishment a couple of times a year (actually, I am more that a little fond of their offerings!) I hope we cross routes this summer, too... possibly even have them overlap some! As for 'hooking-up'... ummmm, might just have to ponder on that some... (Reckon this might be a good opportunity for Daniel to strut his stuff and offer some insight?)

Ur...anyway, she is of the opinion that the last two terms are redundant Smiley
