My 86 year old half sister on my Moms side passed early this A M. Mom and Dad were both married before they got together. My Dad had 2 girls both gone now. Mom had a son and 2 daughters from her first marriage. Elaine-my 86 year old half sister was the last. It was Me then Ross and our baby sister from the second marriage. We lost our baby sister couple years ago. Even though I was expecting that call it-the call-when it came was a kick in the groin. And now my sister is No longer in any physical pain.  angel As we age our family and our circle of friends not only seems to shrink it does in fact shrink. Well the good times past Will be recalled this Christmas.  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

Sorry for you loss Dennis (and Ross).

As we age into geezerdom (me too), it's like being on a chessboard as the pieces keep disappearing.

There's only a few more pieces left on my board.  And I've been trying to do better in showing them my love.

Dennis...Ross...I know what you're going through. My half sister left us nearly ten years ago in her 60's, we used to sit and have hrs. long chats on the phone. I miss that. As Jess said, the pieces on the chessboard of life are dwindling down and I don't like it. Brings that old favorite song to mind: The September Song.  This one sung by Sara Vaughn, what a reminder of many pleasant days past and so few left. Condolences to both of you.

Dennis & Ross,

Sorry for your loss. It happens for all of us as those around us depart... and then, too, we join them. We can't do anything more than you are already doing... All we can do is to make the most of the time we have remaining... Best regards and condolences to you both!

Sorry for your loss fella's.  My Mom was the last of her family to go and I often wondered how she felt as the last few departed before her.  I'm glad your sister is no longer suffering.  Remember the good times.

I'd like to thank everyone for The Prayers, condolences, and well wishes. As I stated-even though I was expecting That Call-it was Still a kick in the groin. I WILL be missing her and her-at times-sharp retorts. While this may sound strange Elaine taught me to play cut throat Monopoly before I was in my teens. I  have six children-adults now-that Still refuse to play Monopoly with me!  2funny I can NOT imagine the hole in her children's lives cuz I Know the hole I have in my life. Again-Thanks to all of y'all.

Thanks to all. I am a little late in chiming in. We are having a service on Friday , and a family Christmas on Saturday. The Christmas was planned for quite a while. My nieces and nephew said the party will go on as planned. Elaine -RIP- will be there in spirit as will all the others.

As was mentioned the chess pieces keep disappearing.  Sad

My older half brother died this past Wednesday. Another screw up by the wonderful NHS.  Angry

I have an old black and white photo of he and my mother together and a blur of a small boy running in the garden. My nephew.

All are gone. My brother was a fairly fit 82. Mother died over 40 years ago and nephew at age 42.

If I could find a way to put in words what I felt after reading your post I would stand a good chance of winning a Nobel for literature. But I can't.

The visitation for my Sister Elaine was last night. Met up with lotsa folks I have not seen in a couple years. Dad always said-most family git togethers these days are at marryins and buryins. Today as the family requested and more importantly wanted we had the Christmas party ay my Brothers-da prez-house that was scheduled long before my Sister passed. Lotsa remebrances and some tears.
Elaine had 1 Son and 4 Daughters. 3 of the Daughters-my Nieces-read this post today. And a Grand Niece read it also. As much as the Gals would like to than each and every one of you in person for your kind words and condolences they left it up to me to express their Very Heart felt thanks and gratitude. They were all touched by every ones words and surprised because to them you are folks they believe to Not have had contact before. As a group I am Very Aware of the Good Folks I've fallen in with here. I believe now my Family is also aware. Thank You Ladies and Gentlemen. MERRY CHRISTMAS.

Dennis,
It’s seems lately, that every time I check in here to see what’s going on, we’ve lost another member or a member’s loved one.  It just goes to show the Valkyrie is a dinosaur and so are we. My condolences to you and Ross.
