I hate New Year's resolutions. Back when I was Vice President for a marketing company in Dallas I would always bring 10 dozen donuts to the office on January 1st and put them in every break room.  You don't need a special day to worship if you're really a Christian (which I'm not). You don't need a special day to improve yourself if you're really motivated (which I used to be).

So hide the kids, block the browser from your wife. What are your favorite vices?

The best cigars I ever had were Padron 1964 Anniversary Maduros. I bought a whole box for $300. They were worth it.
Johnny Walker Blue is a really good scotch to me.  I'm not a single malt guy. I don't think it's worth $200+ a bottle so I only ever bought the one.
The best bourbon is Blanton's Single Barrel and anyone who disagrees with that should drink a Bud Light as punishment. But you can't find it anymore.
The best bourbon to drink like you own it is Heaven's Door Tennessee Bourbon, only runs about $40 at Total Wine and More.
The most expensive meal I ever ate was at Pappa's Steakhouse in Dallas... $2,400 for a table of 6. (A vendor on an expense account paid for it. I didn't give him the contract.) I ate a lobster tail the size of a chihuahua and a fantastic steak. Plus drinks and cigars of course.
The best strip club in Dallas when I was there is The Lodge. They have the top notch Eastern European sex workers. The raunchiest is Perfect 10 in Austin.  Evil Evil

Resolutions are for quitters! Happy New Year!

not been too hardly any strip clubs, but went by myself, the others chickened out,  over the border years ago in my 20's from Detroit to Canada place called Cheetahs.  Going by myself down a dark alley in a strange place was not smart, but I was young and fearless now just old and fearless and about 75lbs. heavier and slower...

Was impressed,  the young lady climbed the pole upwards from ground up head down and feet up in the air wrapped around the pole pushing herself up, that takes some strength most humans are unable to do.  I thought was a bit trashy though with waitresses walking around butt naked nothing on, but could take a shower with them if you had the dough..... Shocked

Not much of a drinker anymore, but wine coolers are my thing being mikes hard lemonade varieties mostly or seagrams wine coolers or anything sweet tasting like mixed drinks example long island ice teas, etc..  Yah, am a wuss and I admit it!   The days of high school and college drinking an entire bottle of root beer schnapps and passing out on the toilet are long gone.    Yah, done that on high school class trip since I bought about 500 bucks of booze for everyone looking the oldest age 18 drinking age 21,  thank god cell phones not invented back then.    2funny

My New Year's Resolution this year is 3840 x 2160, which is a good upgrade, last year's New Year's resolution was 1920 x 1080.

I've earned my vices.

I prefer single malt scotch, don't mind paying for quality, but have found some that I really like under $50... For instance tonight's tipple is an Ardbeg 10, around $40ish....

Some of my pricier favorites are the Dalmore King Alexander III ($250ish), Dalmore 18 (Sameish), Balvenie 17 year old doublewood ($120ish), Kavalan Vinho Barique (Not scotch, but a funny story, to me, about this whisky, it's around $220 if you can find it)

I can appreciate a quality bourbon (Which can be made anywhere in these United States Smiley ), have had the unicorns (Pappy Van Winkle) and it was okay but not worth the hype... Do like Balcones and Herman Marshall Texas made whiskies, being a native born Texan...

I'm also perfectly happy sipping on a Evan Williams Bottled in Bond too.... Good company makes a mediocre whiskey a great whiskey.

Only vice I have left is sitting in cool storage out in the garage for the next 3-4 months. I don't smoke, don't drink but a beer once in a great while and usually leave half the bottle when I do. And....don't chase women anymore. Getting too old to chase them so I watch for those with walkers. Grin  The last one I ever chased(until she caught me) left this earth about 8 mo. ago and at my age have no interest in looking for a replacement. Who in their right mind would want to marry a broken down old fart like me. In warm weather I like to ride the bicycle but the snow gets in the way now, as does the temp so it just hangs on the wall by the Valkyrie. I guess the only real vice/vise I have is like Meathead's, except it's too cold out there now to use so that's out. Next winter I'm going to hibernate....or go to Florida for three months.  cooldude

Ironic..... I appreciate the quality of a good American Made tool, but I'm also a cheap SOB..... My birthday present a few weeks ago from me to me because I love me was this:

I felt guilty taking the old vice off my workbench that I inherited from my grandfather, assuming it was a good quality American made tool all these years..... after I had it off I saw "Made in Japan" stamped in the bottom and my guilt was assuaged....

Firearms (if that's a vice) and cheap tobacco.

I like more salt than is good for me.

I like the sun on my face riding bikes, but just had another piece of carcinoma cut off it, with a nice 2" dueling scar down from my left eye crowsfoot.  It's getting so I don't need a Halloween costume.

I really like Johnny Walker Blue.  The $200+ price is pretty high, but I justify it by making a bottle last for a year or more.

For single malt Glenfiddich 15 year is quite good for the price.  It's noticeably better than their 12 year, and tastes about the same (to me) as their more expensive 18 year.  I also like The Macallan 15 year, though it's expensive.

Here's one I'd like to try.  My son took the picture at their distillery while working in Scotland.

vice - noun
1.  an immoral or evil habit or practice.
2.  immoral conduct; depraved or degrading behavior: a life of vice.
3.  sexual immorality, especially prostitution.
4.  a particular form of depravity.
5.  a fault, defect, or shortcoming: a minor vice in his literary style.
6.  a bad habit, as in a horse.

If I discover I have a vice I work hard to discontinue it.   Morality and the avoidance of evil are high on my list of values.

Vice: noun (TOOL)

a tool with two parts that can be moved together by tightening a screw so that an object can be held firmly between them while it is being worked on:

Vice: noun 2.  informal

I find #3 an odd definition. "Especially prostitution" ? Child molestation, bestiality, infedelity are deemed less immoral by Webster ?

I continue the search for an excellent cigar that stays under the $10/stick price point. Several CAO Brazilia have come close but the Cuesta del Rey #9 pyramid in either a sun grown or Madura wrapper seems to be as good (or better) than any Cohiba. The same with bourbon, only at the $50 price point. Basil Hayden, Bulleit, Four Roses and several others get high marks without breaking the retirement fund. Long guns are always just a blink away from jumping into the safe. Beer is a sensitive subject for me since I brew and could be considered a beer snob. And of course there is the continuing search for discontinued items to make the Large Ladies a bit more mine.

As far as actual vices, all mine are made in England by Record.

Especially doesn't address the level of immorality but on what the word vice is used most for.  Consider what is the primary job of "vice cops".

Not something that has any business in a free society, IMHO.....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_religious_police

Laws should not stop consenting adults from doing anything those consenting adults wish to do with/to each other.....

But, of course, that's just my ever so humble opinion.....

I sort of agree in theory, but in practice, prostitution, gambling and drugs (and extortion) are the corporate enterprise of organized crime (which should be discouraged).  Add in human trafficking (age of consent and under), add in strong-arm enforcement of debt on gambling, and a few other odds and ends, and enforcement makes more sense.

I can't over-recommend Padron.  The 2000 Maduro is a great start, the 5000 maduro is better.. Both under $9 a stick. And I hate how much I like Basil Hayden, because it's so common... but so good!

(The following isn't about you personally... just a general rant.. one of my vices!)

Human trafficking and extortion aren't "consenting adults." Prostitution, Gambling and Drugs are. It's like saying guns should be illegal because of murder. It was fun watching Robert Kraft's lawyers slice and dice the south Florida police department for calling a hand job at a massage parlor "sex trafficking." Don't mess with billionaires. They have the best lawyers. He got the entire surveillance warrant for the whole operation voided because it was obtained to fight "sex trafficking."

This is a vice thread... There's plenty of room to start your own "Deacon's Room" thread. This is the problem with "righteous people." When they see others having fun they have to crap all over it "for their own good." Heaven forbid somebody has a nice wholesome threesome or sex in a parking lot without someone asking "but what about the children?"

The most common vice is hypocrisy. Gluttony, Obesity, Proud of how righteous one is, shopping, wanting more money to prove you're "successful", exercising for vanity, power, being judgmental, reveling in violence on TV (the Walking Dead is just one example of hundreds), war mongering, thinking people "over there" should be bombed and have their doors kicked in because "America! That's why." So, yea.... just because certain people don't smoke or drink or cuss .... It's ok to bash 50 zombie heads as long as you don't show a nipple! (This from someone who was stationed overseas... good place for threesomes.. and went to a Baptist college... less good place for threesomes.)

Now back to the topic at hand.

I submit that the best smut film every made is "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland." Alice shrinks but her clothes do not. The rest is cinematic gold.

Who has done Mushroom Lately?  I never had but started them on my 50th birthday.  Have you ever stuck your head into another dimension? I have.  It's really fun. I could also see through walls!

this thread really really amazes me to the point of me living underneath a rock for the past 30+ years of legal drinking age.  The wisdom and experience shared on this thread of all the different kinds of alcohol consumed by members on here that I have never heard is astounding/amazing.  Then again,  I have never considered buying a bottle of booze of any kind that is much over 30 bucks per bottle.  Must be some good darn stuff if 200 per bottle?   Grin

Connoisseurs wouldn't call this a vice. They would call it a sin.  I drink my scotch on the rocks!  Cry

I have been known to drink scotch on the rocks also, but I keep soapstone "whisky cubes" in the freezer so I can have the coolness without the dilution.  Nothing wrong with JW Blue, I personally prefer Glenfiddich or Bruichladdich.

Looks like a lot of refined drinkers here. Me, Jack Daniels black straight out of the freezer-yum. Just not very much of it anymore, me and Jack have come to a few agreements.
