The wife and me, both being in IT at the time, spent New Year's Eve 1999 at a concert by James Taylor in the Raleigh RBC Center, I imagine at least half of the audience were wearing pagers / carrying cell phones in case our preps failed. By and large - it was a non-event as far as the IT industry saw it.

"everything" runs on Linux now, and we're working on eliminating
32-bit date fields from the kernel or dates will quit working right in
2038...

cooldude I’d much rather be on the road with a “stoner” than a driver that had been drinking.

20 years ago I was working for a company called Lucent that was a spin off from ATandT.
We installed large phone systems into just about everything and everywhere.
We had to upgrade them all and for 6 months I worked 80 hour weeks, the money was very
good but it was hard. I upgraded switches  from the top of buildings to a Navy submarine.
I retired that following September and was glad to get the rest.

yep, saw that was on the news the other day IL legalizing POT.   Rest assured, all the Wisconsinites will be crossing the border to go get some and bring it home, although still illegal here in WI will be much easier to get now.

I vaguely remember as a kid the craze my aunts/uncle's generation had crossing the border into IL to get cheaper cigarettes than in WI,  now it is POT....... with cigarettes on the downside.

If it worked for Willie Nelson,  it must be good right?    coolsmiley
