Ever since 2001 I try to get in a ride on New Years Day

Some years it is not even possible to get the bike out of the garage

Some years the temps were springlike.

This year saw around 37 degrees in Ossining and just a few stray flurries that did not even show on the ground.   So I took the 01 Valk up to the Goat Trail

It was fairly windy on 9 and I was wondering if the wind going thru the pass between Bear Mtn and Anthony's Nose mountain would be bodacious.

However no worries, the road was really empty of any traffic at all and of course no other lunatic on a motorcycle was seen. In fact did not even see one LEO hiding anywhere until near home again

Took a couple of pics of the Valk at the overlook about a mile south of the bridge then rode back home.

Next time I will use the heated gloves lol. Also was thinking about the way Mike rides with his pants legs in his boots. When on the highway pegs I sure did get some wowee blasts of air up the pant legs.   Shocked

Photostash is down but when it comes back up I will post the pics

Hope this year is a good year for riding, and if you rode today, good on you

Oss

something is wrong my phone says it is sending my gmail pics but after 4 tries nothing on my computer gmail  So here is a pic from Dec 29 at Croton Point Park

Good for you Evan! We had snow & ice Monday night so bikes are parked.  Cry
I did take the Valk for a spin to the end of the street where the salt starts last Sunday. Only about 2 miles, but enough to lube stuff up till next time.
For the breeze up the pants, find a tack shop, they sell elastic straps with clips to hold your pants down. They go under your boots. Usually about 3 bucks. Or you can get the same ones with a HD logo for $39.99...

Hey Evan...I met up with Stan this morning at our annual Chilly Chili Run.  I would guess over 200 bikes attending..... Had a nice 30 mile ride to start the New Year.

Glad you got out Oss. The ride we had planned fizzled out. I didn’t feel like riding alone again so I just gave the old girl another deep cleaning she didn’t really need. Let’s just say her first ride in 2020 will be a sparkly clean one

It was a beautiful day to ride and I kept telling myself to back her out and go but, way too many things that really needed to be done before the rain hits.   So, even though I could have, there are times that it just can't happen due to other existing things that really need to be done.

Got them all done, by the time I was finished, the sun was setting and my back, arms, shoulder and knees were killing me.   When the rains subside, she and I will be taking a well deserved ride.   I promise.  I deserve it.

I ran a tank of gas through my red bike on the 1st. I was headed
out through the near by countryside and past the edge of
Walhalla SC where I had to stop at an intersection. A whole
line of bikes crossed in front of me, most of them giving a wave.
I realized a couple of them were Valkyries :-) and when it was
my turn to go I went off in the same direction they were going.
I didn't catch up to them, but had a real nice ride anyhow...

Good on ya, Evan! I coulda, shoulda... but I didn't. No real excuse, I just didn't. I did do some 'work' though... I installed a 'rear-end' in my danged ol' recliner all day! Has anybody ever told you that you display some of the symptoms of addiction? If not, then please allow me to be the first! Judging from the replies to this thread, it appears you're not alone... Thanks for letting us junkies share your ride...

I didn't get out on NYD, Haven't been on the bikes since I got home from the FCR.  It was sunny here yesterday, but being cold and metro Detroit, I just had no desire to get the bike out.  I've rode all the good roads nearby so many times it just isn't fun anymore, unless the weather is nice.  I plan to retire again in the spring and at that point it will be epic trips for me.

I wish everyone a safe, healthy, and happy New Year.  And I hope to see all ya'll soon.

If I'm just wearing jeans (insulated or not), and it's cold enough for the wind to blow up them (mine are all baggy), I use military boot blousers.  Just snap them around your boot tops and tuck your pants ends up them.  They get loose and stretched out after awhile, so if ordering get several, as they are cheap.

I left the military with a pile of them, always have several new in package on the bike and they are free to any who ask (but only in person, not in the mail).

If you're going to blouse your trousers metal works better and lasts longer than elastic.

Wonder, could a rider use them also to bungee the kickstand next time the spring breaks  Sad

Oss

I think I prefer to do like Mike and tuck the pants into my boots.  End of problem  and looks badass    2funny  when done by a 6'3" rider

I wasn't going to say anything... Jess shared a set of those blousers with me a while back.

I tried them (and thanks Jess) but pants tucked into socks works way better for me,
in rain and in cold.
