Sometimes ya just gotta go...

Winter Springs, FL - Occasionally...

« on: January 08, 2020, 06:24:04 AM »

Another year has come and gone... and we're still together! Yep, our girl and her aging rider are still making memories and doing what we do. Last Saturday we departed on our FROTY for the new year, and things just worked out fine. Didn't ride New Years Day, but close enough for those who consider calendars just so much 'excess and unnecessary baggage'.

We left the lair of Troutdude and Water Bug yesterday (our actual anniversary) after deciding to return to sunny central Florida instead of heading west. No urgent need for such a choice, but... We still have some unfinished business to attend, so duty calls and all that. Maybe in the near future we'll make that long ride after all...

Like with riders, scooters, too, have some issues crop-up from time to time as the aging process unfolds... Troutdude is my 'go-to-guy' for all matters mechanical, so... A little jaunt over to southeast Louisiana has never been regarded as a chore for either of us... In fact, that's one of the benefits of such an arrangement... especially when calendars are not a consideration, for us at least, so a one really long day or two relatively short day ride can be stretched into... whatever!

It was twenty-one years and 653K miles ago yesterday that I first laid eyes on our girl... in the showroom of the Honda dealer in Hendersonville, NC. It was love at first sight, and the first thing that popped into my mind when I spotted her was, "This could be the start of something really special!" I had no idea at the time just how prophetic those words would prove to be!!! Anyway, I'm proud to be here doing what I do, and I'm mighty happy to still be doing it with our girl!

We'll be going KSU here in Montgomery, AL, in an hour or so (want to let it warm a bit and allow rush hour traffic to ease-off a bit), and we'll be headed towards 'home'... of course, for us we're always 'home' where ever we are, but this time it means to my land-lady's house... Of course I ain't exactly sure when we might pull into the garage there... could be a long-cut might just be in our immediate future...

cooldude Happy New Year Bruce. Nice little ride you had over to LA and up to AL. If you decide to head due south from Montgomery I bet Jeff and I would meet you for lunch today. I'm not on the road this week and Jeff is pretty much always around. ( Really we just like to eat )  Grin  coolsmiley

With the mile figures and years figure I arrived at an Average of approx. 31095 Mls per year. I Know folks don't put dat many miles on their cages in a year. Any idea How Many hardleys you would have needed fer those miles?  Roll Eyes Yeah-me neither!  2funny RIDE SAFE.

you need to contact HONDA and tell them your mileage.

or maybe not, since they will probably retire your bike wanting it back to show the general public it can hit 600K miles no real engine/tranny issues (?) to promote HONDA reliability.  Maybe if they give  you a new Goldwing for your troubles????   Roll Eyes

Would be interesting to see if 1 million miles is do-able?  Here I think 100,000 miles is a feat to be reached, especially here in the upper midwest where riding season is around 6-7 months per year.

I'd contact Guinness Book of World Records and see what the record is for mileage on a Honda Valkyrie with no engine work.
