Well I knew I needed a ride in a big way so after dropping the wife off at a friend's house for BEMER (you can look it up if you want) demonstrations I went back home and took out the 01 Interstate

It was overcast but some sun and about 63 degrees.
Shirt and mesh jacket weather !

Headed up 9A to 9 to run the goat trail, past Garrison and Cold Spring along the east side of the Hudson River 9D, and turned right onto 301

The road surface was damp but surprisingly free of potholes.  There was the usual strip paving which is annoying but as I climbed toward Fahnstock Park it ended.  The whole way there is a stream running down the west side of the park along either side of the road. In summer you can feel the coolness coming off the stream as you ride.

While ripping thru there a vette going the other way flashed its lights so I slowed down, but no police to be found so I decided as I came to the Taconic Parkway to take that south as perhaps he was ahead of me and would be soon laying in wait

As my brother Strider would say, BOY HOWDY someone turned on the wind machine and I was rockin and rollin as I started the 5 mile descent towards Peekskill Hollow Road and thru an area of construction.  There are still a few grade level crossings which means fatal accidents every year and DOT is trying to do something. Just what I dont know but there are cones and detours.

I was running down the grade at about 5 under the limit as the grade is pretty decent curvature and there was a lot of putholes. So cars now were passing me, well anyone can pass me on that stretch of the Taconic with that strong wind bouncing the bike. About the time I got to the bottom which had the exit crossing for 6 (the same road that goes clear across PA) I saw a Honda in my rear mirror so I  let the couple on the f6  catch up and pass me.  There the wind just died out so maybe 5 miles past that comes a LONG uphill grade with nice sweeps so I put it at 90 and enjoyed letting the Dragon fly itself.
Never saw the f6 again until I had gotten off at 133 and was taking 100 south to Chappaqua Rd

I only saw one LEO and that was near home on the way out. Maybe they are just all off until tonight and drunk patrols  either way my benefit

On the way home I stopped at Mooyah for a double burger and fries which I downed with a Dr Brown's Black Cherry soda.  Ahhh that hit the spot as did the ride.

Now I will set on my recliner and read a book (that is Oss code for take a nap)  then take the dog for a nice walk.

Hope the break in the weather got to some of y'all as well

No pics today was having too much fun to stop.

Too cold here to ride w/o suiting up & electrics.  Maybe get another one in before the snow shows up and ruins my driveway for awhile.  Need to get some work done in the shop anyway.  And several more pipe orders expected in.  Like to get George out again soon (Red bobber below).  Enjoy while you can!

63 degrees...wow! We're into a bit of Winter here now, so no riding for a month or 2. Got the rear bags and rails off, getting ready to pull the rear drive and service it after my work trip to Toronto next week. Nice that you can still get out. Thx for posting...ride reports are few and far between this time of year Sad

Evan,

Unless I miss my guess... you are definitely a fellow addict! Love your reports! I can almost feel the rides you describe, visualize the sights, suffer through the potholes and other unpleasant surprises... Doing all of that mid-winter in New York is also another surprise... Happy for you, my friend, I do know how it is when we're cooped-up too long... As for 'reading a book in the recliner' after a great ride... well, I'm pretty familiar with that experience too.
