Got an email from AMA with a list of pending legislation related to motorcycle travel in Massachusetts. One caught my eye. Below is a link to proposed legislation allowing lane splitting under certain conditions.

http://www.cqstatetrack.com/texis/redir?id=5c76491915

If it's passed, there's got to be a significant effort to educate motorists about this, otherwise there's going to be trouble. Not sure if feel comfortable lane splitting on the Wing, but I would be comfortable traveling in the right breakdown under the conditions prescribed in the legislation. We'll see what happens.  ???

The other proposal I like is no motorcycle-only checkpoints allowed in MA.

I'd like to see both, but am not holding my breath. And yes, a MASSIVE education of the public would be necessary, and you'd still end up with drivers purposely blocking you.

The safest way to lane split is only when traffic is entirely backed up and stopped (or barely rolling stop and go like an accordion), but based on my experience in California (where it had been going on for decades), some people still get irritated you are moving when they aren't, and try to squeeze you out or even open their doors (which I would call a felonious assault).

The trick when that happens to to flop lanes behind them and run up the other side of their vehicle (and turn around and blow them a kiss).  This last part is essential if you want to see their heads explode.

I suppose everybody is entitled to their own demise.
