Sometimes ya just gotta go...

Winter Springs, FL - Occasionally...

« on: January 16, 2020, 09:12:01 PM »

Nothing new there… I’ve seen me be that way before! I’ve been discovering, yet again, that there can indeed be an upside to a delay of gratification… I was a bit down-in-the-mouth last week as ‘home’ drew ever nearer, and the end of our little foray was rapidly approaching. Dangitall! The elation I’d been experiencing on that what had unexpectedly become all-to-brief repair mission over to Troutdude’s center for Valk magic, and even more the short couple of days ride that had followed that confidence-building visit… oh my!

Well, all good things must come to an end, and I was expecting a bit of a depressing let-down as a result of cutting that eagerly anticipated lengthy ride short. The lift from a FROTY, the feel of the open road, the certainty of all the mysterious discoveries awaiting just over yonder… All that associated emotion would be muted, then lost… A return to that danged ol’ recliner didn’t sound appealing at all, but whatcha gonna do? There was a good reason for abbreviating that ride, and it wasn’t hard to accept the inevitable… Anyway, I’d sort of lost the buzz, if you know what I mean…

Where I went wrong, however, was in assuming that magic would be completely lost, never to be exactly recaptured. Well, our girl and her long-time partner slid out of town fairly early this morning on our way to… somewhere. Dang! Immediately I was feeling just like I had several days ago… It was as though we hadn’t even broken stride. I didn’t launch into a yodel or chant or anything right away, but… WOW! ALI was really strutting her stuff, too… the way a peacock might when other birds are around and showing-off is the order of the day.

We decided to avoid the super slab (never a tough call), even though that would still mean riding familiar roads for at least a few days. No problem, I’ve been fortunate to have ridden so many roads over such a long period of time, that none have become boring due to frequent repetition. Besides, a slight route ‘tweak’ here or there, and near-newness is easily achieved! Who cares anyway… right? It’s about the act of riding, not the particular details of the outing… as special as those usually are, too.

This chronic sufferer of PMS was on a roll for sure! WOW! The weather was great… We would have to gingerly and skillfully dodge a few bouts of moisturficaion soon enough, but not this day and most likely not the next… The temps were rather pleasant, even though I had slightly misjudged it and was a wee bit underdressed… for the very first leg of this magic carpet ride. That imbalance would lessen soon enough, of course, as the solar orb continued to rise towards its zenith, so not to worry…

I was just enjoying the moment with my knees back in the breeze, my head once again in the clouds; that always exciting, wonderful feel of our girl enthusiastically doing her thing between my legs… and thoughts of all the strife and negativity in our world never crossing the vacuous expanse in my cranial cavity… That weeklong pause hadn’t set us back one scintilla; in fact, that joyous state of mind hadn’t even seemed to have been interrupted at all! Who knew?

I’d assumed that magical, mystical mental state would be lost, but… nope! Just maybe this little break in the action has actually even enhanced the mood a bit…? I mean, I did reap the personal reward from having done the right thing… and I did earn a few brownie points in the process, too… Apparently, other than a minor break in continuity, there hasn’t been any appreciable downside at all to this little pause, and a strong case could be made for things actually even getting better! WOW! Even before we’d gone more than a couple of miles, the ‘discoveries’ were already coming at me… I do love this life so!!!

Nother good un Bruce.  Makes one wonder the source of those points you mentioned acquiring.  Also in your other post on the mileage where you mentioned 653K miles I had asked how many total were on your backside.  On the Goldwing etc.  I figure you should get one of those stickers that truckers put on the back of their trailers saying that they had made 1,000,000 miles.

Dan,

Reached a total of 654K issue-free miles yesterday... Well, issue-free on this particular outing. Gonna do some more today, too... leaving shortly!   Cool

Jimmy,

Thanks! Sorry to read in another thread that you and Steph won't be making the Yooper Ride... I'm hoping to make that one, myself... won't be the same without y'all, though... sigh...   Sad

Terry,

No 'romantic' points scored, if that's what you're driving at...  Embarrassed  I have been blessed to have a tush with some degree of toughness sufficient to allow for some long rides... My total Wing miles were somewhere north of 260K miles, and, all told with all bikes owned (all metric), my tush does have over 1 million miles while being perched upon a saddle.   smitten

I've ridden in every state but Hawaii, and in every province in Canada. I used to be able to say I'd been in every Canadian territory, too, but since they divided the Northwest Territory into two, I can no longer say that (no paved roads up to that new one). No other countries, however. I'd always figured on riding down into Mexico, but something scary in the news would always come up or I'd 'hear a story', and those would persuade me not to go...

My ex and I spent six weeks in Scotland several years back, and I came dang near to actually renting a bike there (I had a brochure and was about to dial their number), then... I got to thinking... It rains a whole bunch there, plus they drive on the wrong side of the road!!! I decided I'd likely get boogered up on some round-a-bout (or were those rotaries?) or something, and... I really didn't want to find out for myself if their healthcare system was actually superior to ours or not! In spite of all my riding, I reckon I am actually pretty much a scaredy-cat at heart... but with a reasonably tough tush, though...   Wink
