yah,  heard about the BB games being NO crowds that will be weird having no fans there or noise at all,  will be interesting to see on TV I think on that one.

I wonder with high school march madness coming soon to WI and other states, will the public be allowed to watch LIVE considering 1st time ever next weekend if our small town high school boys BB wins Thursday night they go to the big dance semi-finals at least never before in history?

My kids both in a UW college just got word that overseas and other traveling for college is banned for campus activities as well they are thinking which might happen soon which will totally suck for the one taking much harder science and very, very hard calculas II math classes needing social interaction with the teacher IN CLASS sessions to learn effectively, that they might be doing soon teaching via web/computers vs. REAL IN CLASS sessions which will suck paying all that money for teaching and my kid said he needs help in calculas weekly going to the teacher 1 on 1 sessions to help him get it after classes or scheduled times 1 on 1 help.    Will see how that goes but HOPE NOT that will NOT happen.

Even said at the UW college that from now on attendance absences will NOT count against anyone for the remainder of the semester and possibly longer so my kids do not do this but wanna bet the kids who like to skip attending class maybe getting worse grades will be happy about not having to attend class even if not sick?  My one kid in those 2 harder semester college class is pissed off he will not learn as effectively getting worse grades vs. attending daily classes with the teacher learning more effectively especially chemistry and advanced math classes lots harder than high school was.

as far as I know, only 3 confirmed cases of this virus in WI so far so not huge, yet anyways.  However,  a lady at work sit close by just came back from a cruise ship went to work day after returning last Friday, but has been sick at home last 3 days this week but got tested negative on corona virus but that is not 100 percent she still could have it and spread it especially to the MS guy in wheelchair sit next to his immune system is sketchy at best.  He found out yesterday that she may be infected slight possibility and he can easily get sicker than most due to his bad health issues already.

heard on news this morning that Congress said 1/3 of all people will get infected with this virus.  WOW,   if true, looks like the bubonic plague all over again?   Roll Eyes

Is Congress doing this to scare people creating an epidemic mass panic or are they right?  Only time will tell.

On the bright side, per a Telegraph journalist in the UK COVID-19 could provide an economic boost by "culling elderly dependents."

https://metro.co.uk/2020/03/11/telegraph-journalist-says-coronavirus-cull-elderly-benefit-economy-12383907/?ito=social

(Admittedly from a purely economic standpoint he might be right, although I'd say canceling almost all of society as we're currently doing would offset any theoretical positive impact.)

Wow!  As an elderly person I find that perspective highly offensive.  Although it may be factually correct (or not) removal of the influence of those more experienced members of the population would more than negate any positive result of the killing of the elderly.

Incidentally, the virus is expected to to kill twenty percent of over eighty COVID-19 victims.  A large number of those with other serious physical issues would not live very much longer even without COVID-19.

It's an asinine and insulting perspective.

Probably the best way to think about this would be as a high powered, more stubborn flu. Who gets sickest ? - The Young, the old and those with compromised immune systems and those with underlying health issues. The only thing different is the expected fatality rate - about 3-4 times the average flu fatality rate. 96% of people who catch COVID-19 will survive - may have a few rough days while fighting it, but they will survive.

Best things to do - wash hands often (especially around strangers), and be careful about touching yourself. and others. If you're in high risk - I would avoid unnecessary crowds (like a concert). If you're really high risk - stay home. If you're fighting COVID-19 - stay home except for absolutely necessary trips to grocery / doctor/ pharmacy , and minimize the time you're exposing others to you.

Twixt the "news" and other sources I can NOT help but feel the World is in Fact pulling back everywhere. President Trump reinforced the pull back last night with his Address. Carnival? I believe has cancelled cruises for now? N B A season cancelled. M L B opening day is around the corner-MAYBE? Tourist season opening? soon here in the U S of A? Believe the "news" said the DOW tanked by 2000 points? The sky is falling the sky is falling keep your finger in the dike.  Lips Sealed I still feel like this particular virus was engineered. What if covid19 is ONLY a precurser to more deadly chit?  Evil I also PRAY I am WRONG about a precurser. RIDE SAFE.

I have health issues, several that have been identified as complicating factors which are specifically immune deficiency related.  While much of what you say is true, the best estimations are that this virus is 10x as deadly as  influenza according to Anthony Fauci.  All machismo aside, I've been waylaid by severe influenza before.  It sucked.

No, stay home, period!  If you're fighting COVID-19, ask a friend to pick up your supplies for you, and call you so you can take in the stuff he just left outside your door.  A doctor isn't going to want you to come to his office, possibly forcing him to shut his office down for two weeks.  Call and ask first, or call your local health authority to ask what you should do.

Patients infected with the coronavirus are the most contagious BEFORE they get severe symptoms – and they can still spread the killer illness when they feel better, study finds

I'm with O2S thinking this is a little gift from a Chi-knee lab.  They likely had an oops.   HIV aspects, transmission qualities, reinfections, maybe a year-rounder.  End result is the same no matter where it came from it came from China and it's here.  But it does look iffy.

I find this stuff so interesting in part because my dad was biology professor (PhD) and taught a self designed course called Environmental and Public Health.  A significant part of the course focused on disease, and pandemic and biological warfare aspects.  He spoke of labs across the world where top scientists are being paid top dollar by their governments to find unique viral and bacterial ways of killing us.  The course was highly acclaimed, and he taught it for decades.  It was the most interesting class I ever took, and I told my dad that.

I thought it was interesting that our people are saying that it will be at least a year before we have a vaccine however, the Chinese are saying that they will start trials on a vaccine next month.  So either they knew a vaccine was needed long ago and had started development then, or they already have one and just have to make it look like they didn't.  Either of which begs a whole host of other questions.

Actually at least one expert was saying we could have a vaccine very soon but the year is to get through the necessary testing, verification and approval.

Good points.  The key is to minimize the amount you're exposing others (possibly not infected) to you.

I’m sure eventually they will have plenty of tests. My issue is, how many will be needlessly contaminated in the interim ? How bad will the economy get because of these ridiculous delays ? My angst isn’t aimed at you, but the people in charge of this stuff.

I think he means female virgins.  Islam doesn't promise women male virgins as their reward; I don't think they get promised any specific reward.

there are 5 strains of the virus

Of course testing will take time,  Save the angst for china  They sat on this

POTUS put a travel ban on weeks ago, Biden and Sanders called him a racist for it and said they would not do that

He may have bought us the time we need, consider that. Heaven forbid they were in charge It would be very bad indeed

Meanwhile previous administrations responsible for our losing the ability to even make penicillin here
as the last plant went out of business years ago due to china getting the business.

Just as we cant even make large transformers for our grid, they are made, yep in china

Wash your hands, stay strong and have courage this will pass
