And I have a personal friend that lives in Seattle (Worked together remotely and been friends for 15 years) that tested positive today as well...

Well at least Commiafornia has its' priorities in order: (Emphasis mine)

Watching a special on NBC, some doctors taking call in questions from folks.  Dr. John Torres fielded a good question asking what the percentage of death is once a person has to be intubated with respirator.  He said all the world data coming in puts it right about 50%.   Scary sh!t.

I checked my local Walmart website to see if they had any updates, or early service for seniors only.

Only thing on there was shortened hours to allow more time for cleaning and stocking.

So I ran out for a few things, mainly to get milk.  Many things were short, and still no frozen juice of any kind, but lots of milk.   Got to the checkout and told I could only have one.

I wish that had been on the website, I could have just run up to the (very close) 7/11 for milk (don't care if it's a buck more).

Another observation:  only a few young people wearing masks, all us old people are not doing it.

And, I'm going to take a Clorox wipe to do my shopping cart handle next time out; that seems to be the biggest risk.

Come in, load out, pack away, then scrub to the elbows.  Then scratch my itchy face.

My local WalMart has wipes in a dispenser. Yesterday there was an employee also spraying down the handles of the carts.

That seems counterintuitive on Walmart’s part. At least in the case of senior shoppers a reasonable amount over their limit should be accommodated to eliminate the need for them to go out as often for their needs. I assume you would qualify as a senior.

By age, I do (67), but by temperament I don't (I never remember to ask for senior or veteran discounts or treatment).

I look in the mirror, and go..... Who TF is that?   Grin

There had obviously been a big shipment of milk in the cooler.  I can't bring myself to whine about special treatment.

I did think about going right back in for another gallon, but there was only one cashier working (early), and I'm too stupid to use self checkout.

My 102 year old Mom is in an Assisted Living place, has her own apartment.   I needed to get her signature on a document yesterday.   They have had their doors locked since last weekend.   When I got there a nurse type let me in, had to answer 8 questions and have temp taken.  Then they went and got my Mom.  I couldn't touch any surface in the place and had to stay in the lobby area with a mask on that they provided.  I also could not give my Mom a hug which she really enjoys.   Placed the Document on a counter, without touching surfaces, had her sign, pick it up without touching surfaces, Said I love you, then left.

Glad to see they are taking persuasions, but tough on those in the place.  They have also shut down the dining area and all eat their own apartments.

Italy has the world’s second-oldest population, and the vast majority of its dead — 87 percent — were over 70.

The worldwide total number of infections topped 220,000, including nearly 85,000 people who have recovered.

The American death toll rose to 160, primarily elderly people. Johns Hopkins University,

current Flu Season: Up to 19,000 People Have Died

Last year, more than 80,000 people died of the flu and its complications in the United States, the highest death toll for the disease in at least four decades.

The current flu season started at the beginning of October and lasts until May. As of Feb. 9, between 15.4 million and 17.8 million people nationwide have caught the flu, the Centers for Disease and Control reported.

HALF of 'most severe patients' are under 65 - coronavirus affects young as well as old
ITALY's coronavirus death toll soared on Friday and regions imposed new restrictions in an increasingly desperate effort to halt infections, with one banning walks in parks and another prohibiting jogging and bike rides. And, Head of Lombardy's crisis care unit, Dr Antonio Pesenti has revealed that half of those in intensive care units (ICU) in his hospital are under the age of 65 - a stark reality to suggestions only the elderly are badly impacted by the deadly virus.

Younger Adults Make Up Big Portion of Coronavirus Hospitalizations in U.S.

New C.D.C. data shows that nearly 40 percent of patients sick enough to be hospitalized were age 20 to 54. But the risk of dying was significantly higher in older people.

My thinking is, everything brought into home needs to be scrubbed, stock person, checker, bag person have all touched items and they have also touched others items that others have touched, so actually the items you bring in have been touched by hundreds, thousands of people,it is a chain reaction, think about it.
After you scrubbed hands and then grab that gallon of milk etc, you are contaminated again.

https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1258136/boris-johnson-coronavirus-uk-news-pubs-clubs-shut-covid-19

As well as pubs, Mr Johnson informed restaurants, bars, leisure centres and gyms will be asked to close from tonight. As he announced the measures today, Mr Johnson warned the public they are not "invincible". His reference comes as the coronavirus has been reported to have a greater impact on the elderly rather than younger people.

Sounds like they intend to pay 80% of people's salaries  - -  "unlimited funding".

Rumor has it they may require lockdown for a year.   London hospitals are already taking a beating.

Really real.   Pretty sure everyone but 98 gets it now.

Just heard that with Illinois 80 million Americans basically told stay at home.   Hope everybody stays safe and that the idiots behave!

Our hospital has 2 respirators.   Just learned we have 19 positives,  50 pending.   We have one large multi-purpose building on the rodeo grounds,  the Fred Field Western Heritage Center.   I just discovered they are prepping it to be an alternate care center.

I'm one of those with health conditions.   I'd rather not do a stint there.

You can go to a hospital that is not local.  I hope that isn't necessary.

Update on my buddy in Seattle (He's  57 and otherwise healthy, active (Drummer in a rock band kinda guy)). He was recovering thought he was over it, then he just posted this:

Took a bad turn. Lungs are filling up with fluid. Being admitted. Not sure what hospital yet. I asked for Auburn MultiCare or Swedish in Issaquah.

I hate hearing this.   Another victim I don't know, but he's your bud.   More prayers going out...

Good luck New York

Here's what a 90-day 'stay home' order means for New York
